sorry to seem quite the pessimist.

The window is going to slam shut and we are going to be with the same team.

I would say it would be quite worrying given that if we lose 1 or 2 players due to injury we are screwed and with perch in the mixer as a CB....

I really hope pardew (ashley) has something up his sleeve for the next 24 hours.

on a brighter note, the Demba's are back!!!!!!!!

Keep the faith, we always ended up disappointed at the end of the window, then get better than expected results.

Considering that may people feared we'd sell some of our best players in this transfer window; to actually retain them all is a coup.

Agree with this 100%, were really only lacking a CB all other positions are covered IMO.

We've gained a £10 million striker which we didn't expect, so as long as nobody goes I'll be happy for now.

I would happily take this transfer window as it is if it means we don't sell any of our star players. I would love a centre back but would love to keep our best players even more!

I dunno, it's a weird window. We got a (probably) good striker which is a bonus, but we're still short of CB's, and if one gets injured or suspended we'll have to rely on Perch again, who's clearly not good enough for the Premiership.

It seems a bit sort sighted from Pardew, or Ashley, or Llambias, or whoever the **** controls the transfers.

Cant believe I'm saying this.. but alongside Willo, Perch looked good. He's just **** in the air, so if he has a decent aerial presence next to him he doesn't look as out of his depth as he does if his CB partner is Simpson or Colo.

He did look good, but I'm not sure if it was just because everyone else in the team was so dire that night. It was against Championship opposition, as well.

I don't know. Hopefully if he is needed he'll come good, I just don't like the fact that we're relying on him if Willo or Colo are out.

Just retaining our current lot would do me. I've grown used to departures and profits in previous transfer windows, so I think our current squad plus a top class striker is a massive improvement. Of course we should really be signing a centre back but I'll just be crossing everything if we don't get one. The thought of Perch at CB for any period of time will lead to goals, goals, goals! But always remember, it could be worse.

For what its worth I think we'll sign a centre back by close of business. We have looked at Mariappa obvious but if not him I think it will be the French lad if it can be done. Obviously the issues are that they will want too much for Mariappa and that Montpellier are in the hunt for the title and the lad may want to see the season out. Either way if we have to wait, then I'm fine with it as the policy is serving us well.

If we don't get a CB in this window then at least Carr has a lot of time to go and find us a really good one and we can begin negotiations before the summer.

I enjoyed this summers window as we got most of the players we needed before pre-season and we've all seen the benfits of that this year.

I think we may still get a CB. Probably not of the calibre that we were all hoping but I think they are still beavering away behind the scenes trying to get somebody in. If we do, then along with the Cisse signing I'd be happy with this window.

Would like it if we got another CB, also a left back, but if we don't sign one then so be it...

There's a whole raft of things inbetween the way we are at present, and being a mackem. You've jumped straight to the worst of worst there!!

If we get a CB in, even just on loan of roughly Willo's quality for depth then I'd say we've had a good window. As people are saying, it was more about not selling rather than buying.
