Smith was a cult hero at ER, and if it wasn't for Ridsdale's stupidity he would still be in a White shirt along with Paul Robinson, James Milner, Aaron Lennon etc. Manure were only club to put money on the table when there was panic selling, and for me the lad did a great thing when he handed his £1m signing fee back to Leeds United. Can't disagree with your sentiments. Keyword in your post for me though is 'was'. He was good. Very good. That was a loooong time ago, sadly, and I honestly feel he's too old, too slow, and too expensive for us. It would be a step back.
