So, after an appalling sequence of results we're unbeaten in four and have taken 10 points from a possible 12, conceding just 2 goals.

Is this a result of Buckle's departure, or has McGhee got the players doing the right thing?

I think that we look more solid and obviously confidence is higher, but I'm unconvinced until we start consistently putting points on the board.

i think its a bit of everything.

1, buckle went and its given everyone freedom to breathe. the players didnt want to play for buckle. that was evident for a while. buckle admitted it himself after the plymouth game. half time 2-0 up and he told the players to keep doing the same in the 2nd half but the players did what they wanted and we lost. to me he lost the dressing room. this will give improved performances.
2, the players admitted they didnt perform for buckle saying they are to blame and let buckle and the fans down. they will want to prove to us fans that they are worthy at being at our club.
3, on top of that they know a new manager will step in and they will want to impress him. this happens 9/10 everywhere. this will give improved performances.
4, mcghee comes in. says he will give everybody a chance between now and end of the season to prove to him that they should be part of his plans for next season. they are playing for their careers. they know mcghee can do something special for us. they will want to be part of that.
5, mcghee has shown he has a plan a, b and c. been able to change things in games that buckle couldnt do. yesterday when bradford scored, if buckle was in charge i know 100% that it would of ended 2-2 or even a defeat for us. even though it was nailbiting stuff last 10 minutes, you can tell mcghee has installed confidence in the team and defence.

its a mix of all of this i think baldee <ok>

mcghee has also been smart to dismiss talk of the play offs. he has said there is a lot of work to be done. its buckles team he has inherited and just because he is now manager doesnt mean were going up. we will lose games but the trick is for mcghee is to get the players to forget the defeat and bounce back. for too long our players heads has dropped as soon as we concede and we give up, even after 5 minutes. mcghees job wont be easy. he will be working on the players mental state installing confidence/self belief. performances and results will come no doubt about it. what helps is that we have 4 points from crawley and cheltenham and kept clean sheets. the players know they can win games against the better sides and keep clean sheets too.

also gill being back and harrold and brown back in training and carayol yet to come back as well will make us a very strong side this 2nd half of the season.

I think Buckle going was the best thing that could have happened. We have players that are decent, but never did it for Buckle. He has gone and the players, under both North and Mcghee are showing that they have the quality and resiliants to win games and get back up that table. With Muzzy, Anyinsah, Brown, Harrold all coming back we will look a much stronger side. With a few more additions to the squad, we could possibly make something of this season! Time will tell but we could do another 06/07 and beat the tinpots in the play off finals again :D

In the immortal words of Kevin Keegan - I would absolutely love that! But let's be realistic, it won't happen. I will be delighted if we can consolidate a top half finish this season.

CJS is right - I believe that it's very much to do with a positive mental attitude that stems from both Buckle's departure and the pleasant surprise that we have landed a relatively big fish in McGhee.

Let's face it, McGhee has seen it and done it. He knows how to influence a game from the touchline, how to change tactics and make the right substitutions. It all begs the question - what the **** were the board doing appointing Buckle and Penney!!

Mcghee at Rovers and O'neil at Sunderland, both respected managers by the players, who then start to believe they can win games.

With a couple of decent loan signings and players coming back we should go from strength to strength. The loan signings are doing a great job and have improved our performances. Lucky enough Buckall never had time to ruin them.

The results have been a great releive to the Directors, management players and supporters..what is down to in my opinion is

    1) Obviously Chuckles tactics and formation was naive. My reason is simple you cannot play both Any and Cary together in midfield as they are great going forward but provide absolutely no cover for the defence or support for the midfield.
Teams were enjoying the success exploiting the gaps left by these players.

    2) With Cary's injury North was forced to add another player in the mix from the start and alter the formation. This provided another body more defensively minded in midfield to assist the two in the middle and defence when needed.

    3) With Harrods injury there hand was forced again,we ended playing 1 up front with a link man providing another body in midfield

4)The problem we had was the final third, but yipee we stopped leaking goals except vs AV (understandable).

5)With McGhee increasing confidence and picking up points I agree the players lifted there game to save there bacon, coupled with a few new faces including Poke or Judy (punch and judy) after saturdays performance.

    6) McGhee and North appear to have tweaked the formation again which is working well given the personell on the injury list and Gill returning.

    7) Trying not to be neg, we do struggle still in some areas of the park not look good for the full 90,Bradford took the game to us in the 2nd half, however the players are playing hard as a team.No doubt we will suffer a setback or two but hey its a work in progress.

10 points from 4 games is beginning to sound like chris gasheads summer prediction. " the gas will walk the league" chris may be right belatedly. keep it up gas but prepare for an interruption on the 14th, but the pies are nice
