I honestly have no idea why its a Mon/Bruce thing, none at all Cest. It really is possible to like and dislike without it being a for or against the manager Cest. I am over the moon with MON being our manager and the results we are getting. That does not mean I enjoy everything about it, cant see the problem with that.

Lol, I was waiting for the MONOB/MONIB line. IMHO we played badly today and will do it again of that I'm sure but we didn't lose. I also think we are very lucky to have a manager like MON. This league is all about results and a team like ours does not have the luxury of demanding lovely football as we don't have the players to do it. What we do demand is effort and commitment to the cause the rest will come through time.

Will you two give it a rest!
Two of the best posters on here..Calm down eh.
My take on this... I can kind of see Syd's original point. Our last two games have been ugly, yet unbeaten. This is however a results business.
I for one don't give a hoot for performance as long as we get results.

    Well,

I would rather watch us playing a bit more direct and getting results, than try and go Barcelona and lose.

Re MON's Villa team, I really liked watching it, sit back, hi Downing & Young, and basically ambush the opposition.

I have no problem whatsoever with our style under MON, but I do have joy from seeing us get results, week in, week out.

    That's all for me.

I simply don't know what there isn't to like though? After being 3rd bottom 7 or so weeks ago and looking every inch a relegation threatened club, we are now mid table and have won 5 out of 8 league games. We are scoring from all over and have one of the best defenses.

We are into the draw for the last 16 of the cup and look forward to a replay at The Riverside in a week or so time after a plucky Boro fully deserved their draw.

We have a manager with a proven pedigree who will improve the squad and the team over the next few years without doubt but in the meantime he will shore up a failing side enough to retain EPL status next season.

If this was Mon's 2nd year without improvement or team strengthening and We were struggling I'd probably join you for a bit of a winge. However, I can't find anything to complain about after 8 flamin weeks kidda and I doubt even the fickle craas could after that amount of time.

8th on Wednesday, still in the cup and maybe a new striker anyway.

Tis the season to be still jolly.......for some anyway. Lol

I'm probably in a minority of...erm, one with this but honestly. Relegation was never an issue with the squad we have.
    Even before MON.

Hand on heart kidda, 3rd bottom, 3 wins at home in 11 months, beaten by a god damned ****e Wigan team and you never once thought, "bugger, we are in trouble here"?

Nerves of steel or blind optimism? Lol

don't agree, it was a masssive issue. You can't believe we'd have got 10 pts out of 12 over xmas with the geordie pie muncher in charge ?
it's not the squad it's how you organise it.

The way I see it in simple terms. Under Bruce we under achieved. So far under MON we have over achieved.
Managers do have an effect but what really makes the difference is money. I love MON, he's a fantastic manager. Will he get us top six without major investment? No.
Would we have gone down under Bruce? For me no, we didn't last year with an inferior squad.

Inferior squad? I'm lost with that one. We had Welbeck, Gyan and Bent up front and Mensah at the back so how was that weaker?

Welbeck was never ours, Mensah was great but injury prone. Gyan and Bent chased the dollar which proves my earlier point about investment.
So yes our attack has been blunted, our squad overall however is far better due to Bruce's summer buys.

I don't think this tactic O'Neill uses is because he's having to 'work with what he's been given', as your side is actually probably more tuned towards short passing football.

I just think that's how O'Neill plays his football. After all, as a manager he's heavily influenced by Brian Clough, and he was a manager back in the day of very route-one traditional English style football.

    OMG. It lives.

How were the protest plans going last night?

You forget to mention that Brian Clough was also pretty successful in his time with that route one football (route one eh, that's actually a pile of ****e as well by the way) and liked his trophies.

I like my football these days thanks very much. It's called winning and long may that continue under him.
