    Yawn, change the record

How about some positivity? Bored of fans who get negative after a couple of unlucky losses. We beat man u 3-0 only 4 games ago ffs!!

Pardew has been amazing this year, we're really getting back to that delusional tag of you're expecting more given where we were two years ago and our net spend on transfers. So come on, credit where credits due.

I agree with this despite hating this man! 6th is the best we will ever hold for many years.

I wouldnt expect anything less than for the whole of not606 to take a pathetic cup 'campaign' and talk about the league season until your blue in the face to justify it.

What has the league got to do with what happened at Brighton last night? Did look like a top 6 team to you?

It was a joke that was totally avoidable. It was just pathetic. Brighton did Nothing. Even their goal was scored by us. Farce.

And before that game, the same doom merchants on this thread were claiming we would get trounced by 3 or 4 goals, because Pardew wouldn't play Ben Arfa, and started Shola instead. The users that piss me off most on this site are the fickle, negative twats who come crawling out after the first run of losses.

I expected to lose and know fine ****ing well we will never ever win anything. The fact we are doing well in the league is frankly unreal and it wont last very much longer. I suggest you enjoy the milk before it turns sour.

Give Mark Hughes a chance. He's only been in the job for 10 minutes...

well that's just not true i'm afraid. we've played a very average standard of football this season and quite a few teams have played better quality football more often imo. the only difference is that we have had demba to put the ball in the net. how many times have we played crap but sneaked a win? they say it's the mark of champions, but that's when it's a one off, not 2/3rds of your games.

to bring stats into it all you have to do to check this is look at: a) the number of assist we have made b) our pass completion rates. they both support the opinion that we have played poorly as a team but demba has gotten us out of it. of course i expect you to bring up our remarkable defensive record at the beginning of the season, but this doesn't support a theory of us playing well - how many wonder saves did krul pull off? how many goal line clearances have we made this year? i'd say way above average on both counts. yes, using this you can say we have committed players, but that doesn't mean we've played well. if we had played well we wouldn't have needed wonder saves or goal line clearances.

I am not so sure I agree with this - you have to remember we have out our 2 1st choice centre backs, 2 1st choice strikers (I assume Cisse will be first choice) and arguably our best cenre midfield enforcer of last season. That is 5 potentially top 4 league players out. And that is pretty much the spine of any top team. However, its there like for like replacements that are not good enough and when our current 3rd/4th choice strikers are playing and we all know they are ****, playing a player we all think that up until recently has been one of the ****test players seen in a NUFC shirt (Perch) and us still playing our weakest first team player (Simpson) and coming off the back of a drubbing then playing a more negative tactic away from home may have been necessary. Personally I think we should have had some youngsters on the bench as Lovenkrands and Obertan were the only real attacking options we had on the bench and imo are both a waste of time. The main mistake Pardew made was his substitutions or lack of at the right time

There's no way we are in a false position. No way.

There isn't a team outside the top 6 better than us. We have the players.

This is why the match last night sickened me. All we had to do was play the game as if it were a league match, and we would have won convincingly.

I'm not fickle. How is knowing how good we are and wanting us to smash the cup games with a positive attitude fickle? Has Pardew done a great job in the league campaign? Too right he has. Was his attitude towards the cup a disgrace? Yes, it was.

Im not prepared to ingore it just because we are 6th. So if we were 17th, then what happened last night would be aloud to be criticised? I dont think so.

most of what you say is true. yes, yesterday we were missing half our first team, but that doesn't mean we've played well this season. i've taken the thread way off topic and gone for an overall outlook of our false league position, not basing it on fulham (where we actually played one of the best halfs of football i've seen us pull off this season) or brighton.

yes, i'm not denying we have some very good players, that isn't the issue. tiote, cabaye, krul, saylor, colo, jonas, ba and hopefully cisse are very good individuals, but again, the issue isn't whether we have better players than other teams. we have not played good football this season.

Doesnt mean we are in a false position. The teams below have played even worse football.

    We are where we are.

We are also dumped out the cup because we were scared of a pile of sh*te like Brighton.

So we are in a false posistion because the football has been poor? At the start of the season it was good to watch but lately we have had to grind results out, we aren't Barcelona i'm afraid.

<doh> How can you say that, as if it is a general statement???

YES, some games we've played hoofball, but generally we don't, I think we play better football under Pardew than Hughton. I thought we looked very fluid in the first half yesterday with Ben Arfa, Gutierrez and Best playing off Shola in a 4-2-3-1.

If we had a decent striker to link up with our excellent midfielders (and we will soon!) we would have stuffed them. I don't buy the "bad football" criticism.
