I will be honest when rudd got injured i was hoping lambert would get a loan keeper in as cover 'just in case'
I will also be honest tho the point that when i saw the team sheet yesterday, i was cursing sir paul.

But what a game he had! I understand 100% why Lambert has faith in him. I thought he was cool and calm and delt with every thing very well. Good kick on him too!!

Do you think he has more potential than Declan Rudd Sam?

I personally do! I think he looked quite good! The first time I saw Rudd i think it was last year and his kicking was all over the place, and he looked nervous. I thought Steer was very confident. Definitly one for future. Would be interesting what Yovil fans think of him!

Yet another genius move by lambert

I was also of the opinion that a loan keeper might need to be looked , although through reserve and PRE-season games that I've seen Jed I knew he was quality, he also appears to have doubled in size since the start of the season. I think they've got him and dec on the "ruddy" diet.

We now have a young keeper flush with confidence ready to do whats neccesary for the club. where we could have had an old battleaxe who doesn't give a **** about the club.

It reminds me of last season where lambert put Simeon on at Doncaster(I think? The 6-0) and he got a hat trick. He KNEW he needed a goal or two to start firing and after that he got the goals that got us promoted.

Lamberts man management, particularly of personal confidence, it quite miraculous.

the hat-trick was against scunthorpe beefy...

as for steer, he seems a heck of alot better than rudd. ive been to the 2 last cup games so ive seen them both and jed just seems to be better at almost everything from his kicking to his catching aswell as commanding of the area. obviousley he can pull off a top save aswell <ok> give it a year or 2 and he will be our number 1!!

Please take the time to realise how lucky we are that we currently have 3 quality keepers (1 injured atm i know, but he'll be back soon), unlike Manchester United (De Gea is a massive liability), Tottenham (Gomes is a joke) and Arsenal (besides Szceny, idk how you spell it :D, their reserves are diabolical)...think how much chaos Swansea or Newcastle would be without Vorm or Krul!

The BEST THING is that the "older chap, ie Ruddy" is only 25 and keepers usually play till their mid-thirties, so I think personally that our goalkeeper issues are sorted for the next decade and a half...

You're totally right that we are blessed to have 3 top quality keepers/ prospects. However, there is no way that we will keep them all happy at Norwich for the next 15 years! Each of them will want to be first choice in 2-3 years time. At some point, whoever feels they are 3rd choice will want a permanent move to a club where they can take the number 1 jersey.

He has pleasantly surprised me this year, but in a way I hope that in 1-2 years Ruddy is moved to a newly promoted premier league side for reasonable money and Rudd & Steer are left to compete for the chance to prove their class!

Ruddy has been fantastic this year and has really helped us put some distance between us and the relegation places. However, hand on heart has he been as great as Vorm? or Krul? I think moving him on would be a gamble but could pay off big time! I must admit I'm going purely on reputation, but both Steer and Rudd seem to have the potential to be absolutely TOP quality.

Man City moved Given on when he was playing quite well which made way for Hart. That helped them move to the next level.

I'm not doubting there are better keepers in the PL, but Ruddy is still developing and I can#t see any reason why the other two will end up better. Ruddy sat on his arese (in terms of first team games) for a few years at Everton and has improved an enormous amount over the last year or so. Has he peaked, i don't think so.

It great to be be in this position and discuss the relative merits of each keeper.

Bit of a difference between Given and Ruddy age wise. I agree we may have a problem regarding keeping 3 top keepers happy but I think the sensible thing is to keep the best two. In two years time we may have Matthews knocking at the door.

Interesting to see so many comments in praise of Ruddy and his understudies. I remember having many a debate with some other fans on the merits of Ruddy at the start of last season and even this season, some of the fans I meet in the pub before home matches were suggesting that PL should sign a 'proven keeper' - you don't hear much from them now. I've always been a big fan of JR, hence why I've got the number '1' on my shirt!!!!

Yes, Ruddy has made mistakes (the blunder against Leicester in the 1st minute comes to mind), but so far this season, I've seen far more costly mistakes by De Gae, Hennesy, Szczesny (cheated - copied from the BBC website!!), Mignolet and how much did Ruddy cost in comparison to some of them?? We are indeed blessed with excellent goalkeepers and I see that Steer got the MoM award in some of the Sunday papers!!!!

    Bring on Leicester!!!!

I see no reason at all why...

Next season, we can't alternate Ruddy and Rudd (long season, they won't admit it, but sometimes having a break is appreciated!), and play Steer in all of our cup matches...

Maybe Steer could go on a season-long loan with an immediate recall clause to a Championship team (one of the worse ones, you get more shots to save, and there isn't much chance of them buying him :D)

Great move by Lambert to play Steer. Maybe he wanted to prove that Steer is a great back-up and we don't need to bring in another keeper, as he said.
