Had Radio 5 LIVE on the radio today [well, at least it's better than Talksport] and heard the Murray/Djokovic tennis match. Have to say, it was quite good. Murray didn't play the plucky Brit although, of course he did lose, as a plucky Brit should.
We've always been notoriously ****e against the spin and we're playing on fairly new sub continent pitches.
Indeed but 145 with the batting lineup we've got should be a doddle...screaming at the tv to play a few shots!
I try not to watch the winter tour matches to the sub continent as I think it is quite possibly most boring cricket alive. Nothing beats the tours to Aus, SA or the Indies because of the fast seaming pitches.
Yes, I thought. No distraction from the tennis...nice little morning with a very good chance of a win. You'd think I'd know by now!
145 in the sub-continent against quality spinner will rarely be a doddle. Anything above 120 always had a chance of being defended. Yes we batted poorly, but it's not right to say it should have been a doddle. Leaving Bangaldesh out of it, that's now 1 win in 19 Tests for us in the sub-continent. We cannot play spin.
I don't like cricket.......... I love it! Well apart from when we get tonked like that. Finished a night shift watched us bowl them out and went to bed thinking that we should be 1-1 when I woke up, but had that horrible feeling that we would blow it. St Brendy, we better learn how to play spin fast. Sri Lanka away after Pak and India away at the end of the year. If SA have a good series against us in the summer we could find ourselves finishing the year in 3rd or 4th!
I'm really pleased for Monty though, but am already thinking we won't see much of him down Eaton road way, this summer.
Tennis every time, it's such a wonderful sport. Love playing it, love watching it. Golf and Snooker are also fascinating to watch. Cricket is literally the only sport I refuse to watch, I'd rather scrape my eyes out with a rusty spork than watch that tedious crap!
Fashionable would be living in NZ. I left there many years ago. Now you know how much I follow fashion.
Will never happen whilst the ECB are so anti-spin in the County Championship. How are players meant to learn how to play spin bowling on pitches condusive to spin, if they're effectively never allowed to encounter it during their bread and butter of domestic first-class cricket. (Yes, I am still bitter about Hampshire getting a points deduction for producing a pitch which assisted spinners, but that just shows how badly wrong the ECB have got it)
