The point remains though. Cabaye has been just as thuggish this season as Barton was last.

He's been suspended already, put a nasty tackle in on Spearing, tonight's incident, and has put the boot in a few other times as well.

He hasn't been thuggish, clumsy at times yes, but not thuggish. Barton was thuggish in the sense that he punched Gamst-Pedersen against Blackburn, Cabaye has done nothing of that nature.

Apart from kicking the guy in the face tonight, and trying to end Spearing's career, you mean.

Maybe he didn't deliberately go for the face, but it's obvious to anyone that he intended to kick him.

Bollocks. A piss poor effort at backing your argument up. Ill give you Spearing, although debatable.

i agree i think it was intentional, but you cant really prove it as he isn't in control and he's rolling across the floor so maybe he will get away with it

Point 1 - That would have never ended his career. It was a nasty tackle, no denying it, but it would never have ended his career. There has been worse tackles this season by far.

Point 2 - The majority of players do that when they go down, or did you not notice this? I see it a lot, the face may not have been intentional, but almost every player in the modern game does it. To condemn him for it, you'd need to condemn the majority of every league.

Trying to end Spearing's career, **** off. You think in the split second between him trying to take control of the ball, and Spearing coming charging in Cabaye thought, "hmm, maybe this kid that I hold no grudge against as I've never met him before doesn't deserve to play football..., best try and injure him"?

Could have easily put him out for a long time, at least.

You don't often see other players putting their foot out with that much force.

The tackle against Bardsley is another example of his nasty side.

Point 1 - It would have yes, but the point still stands, there has been worse tackles and he is not thuggish.

Point 2 - Aye, his second game in the league, not yet up to the pace. I can think of one tackle in that game that was worse, that incidently, was done by Bardsley on Colo, where his leg flexed and was lucky to come out of it without a broken leg. It's not intentional on his behalf, it is clumsiness. It is only his first season in the premier league after all.

Regardless, tackles like that show a nasty side to him.

He'd played over 200 first team games before joining Newcastle. Yeah, he's new to the PL, but it's more than clumsiness that leads to something like this:

What other players do doesn't really matter, as it's completely unrelated to Cabaye's personality

Point 1 - In that instance, a lot of players have a nasty side, including ones that are highly regarded in world football. The odd instance in which a bad tackle is made does not incur a nasty side to a player.

Point 2 - As a Norwich fan, I'd assume you don't really watch much of Newcastle's games? As in that case you'd know tackles like that are few and far between, throughout his whole career. Regarding the picture, if that was someone like, say Scholes, it would be described as committed and that he couldn't pull out. Nasty challenge, no denying it, but how it is regarded generally differs from player to player. It has no reflection on his personality at all as he is not a dirty player, may whine a bit recently, but not dirty.

Just to make my opinions clear I have no problem with anything Cabayes done and would encourage him to continue acting pretty nastily if I got the chance
