Shola can **** off!! - Thoughts on the game

I don't know about you, but this whole thing about making Shola captain because he "gets the lads riled up" is complete and utter giraffe ****.

Shola may love Newcastle, but his work effort is ****ing abysmal, he showed no desire to win a ball in the air, didn't try at all. What example does that set?

A captain should be influencial not just in the dressing room but on the playing field as well.

I personally think Shola shouldn't be offered a new contract and we should be another 4th choice striker.

Best worked his arse cheeks off and how Shola ever gets picked over him I will never know. Best isn't amazing, but he wins more in the air, controls the ball better, links up with players better, and works much harder.

One thing neither Shola or Best are is not accurate at heading in on goal so I don't know why we tried to put balls into the box like that, we might as well just cut in and try long shots.

The goal we conceded was an unlucky deflection but it's what we deserved. Simpson should ****ing know by now not to make those sort of mistakes, and our best defender on the night, after Santon, was probably Perch. Williamson was dreadful.

Ratings -

Krul - 5 - 1 good save but apart from that could do nothing really. The goal was deflected and he'd already gone down.

Simpson - 3 - Pants. A few decent runs up the pitch and I'm not knocking the lads effort but he was awful.

Willo - 3 - Normal service resumed. ****ty mistakes like last season starting to re-emerge themselves again this season.

Perch - 5.5 - Some **** heading, but I really can't be too critical of Perch today, he didn't really do much wrong. He wasn't good but he wasn't ****.

Santon - 6 - Not bad, but he still has some positional issues at times.

HBA - 3 - His worst game yet. Just totally anonymous for most of the game, and was very wasteful on the ball.

Cabaye - 6 - Hopefully that little kick wont get brought up. Not bad overall.

Guthrie - 6 - Not bad.

Jonas - 4 - Definitely not suited for the center of the pitch IMO.

Steaming pile of **** - 1

Best - 6 - Good effort and very close to scoring. Good performance overall IMO.

Overall - Typical us to **** up this tie. We had the best of chances but couldn't stick one in the back of the net and mistakes ****ed us over.

Lets just not let this shower of ****e carry over to Blackburn.

 

Shola won EVERYTHING and nearly scored. And put a chance on plate for Best. So shut the feck up you titmonkey, im not his biggest fan at times (although I do love him) and today he worked hard and did pretty decent.

Best was not better than Shola today. They were both terrible.

He won one header to set up Best for a chance, the rest of the time he didn't even ****ed jump for it! He just let it fly about his head!! No ****ing effort.

 

Because Best actually ****ing did something. Maybe 7 was too much for him, but Best was miles better than Shola today.

And you also think he had a better game than Perch, who was quite obviously our best player. I think you're the only person on here who didn't see that.

 

He didn't win everything, there was one instance where Simmo crossed a sweet ball into the box and the lazy bastard didn't even attack it. Just one of the reasons why he was ****e again.

Don't understand how Williamson conceding an own goal constitutes normal service? Been really good this season, yes he's not as good as Saylor, but still does a good job

 

Perch arguably did nothing wrong all match, and in fact bailed out his fellow defenders on several occasions! As for Best, having chances created for him and failing to produce doesn't earn him marks - it just means he and Shola both sucked, but for different reasons!

Perch and Shola were 2 of our better players tonight! I know Shola is a common scape goat but come on he was actually alright tonight.

 

It wasn't the own goal, that was unlucky, but he gave away possession, and ****ed up plenty of times towards the end.

 

I don't mean to be insulting, but anyone who thinks Shola was one of the better players tonight is obviously communicating to us from a parallel universe because Shola was definitely one of the worse players today.

 

So you don't think he was incredibly lazy towards the end when a few balls flew in his direction in the box and he just stood there watching them go over his head? They were low enough for him to at least try to do something - he was the captain of a team about to go out of the cup.

 

Serious question, how can you justify giving Perch a 5.5? He bailed out the defence numerous times and was solid from first to last minute.

 

Your ratings never fail to annoy me. I wish you'd make this thread a day after the game or something. Because you always seem a tad carried away (heat of the moment) when writing them. So, it kind of distorts the true ratings the players should have.

Perch, and Shola, were probably our two better players today. While Best, should seriously look into his performance today. He was extremely poor. And, I think I'm probably one of his biggest fans on here too
