Great performance from Perchino. He reads the game very well, usually the first to react, made loads of interceptions and positioned himself well. Feeling more confident with him as backup after that.

He plays the Colo role very well for someone who's not really rated!

Definitely. Actually I think the last time he partnered Colo, Perch was the better player that day as well. Really impressed with his positioning.

The amount of effort Pardew makes to bring him into games leads me to believe he may be a bit of a fan himself.

Don't get too far ahead of yourself, that was a Championship side with very little threat.

West Brom wasn't it? Where a few people were saying the same thing despite the usual people hating on him.

He's certainly coming into his own at the club, could be a handy player to have around and I agree, Partds definitely sees something in him.

I missed the game but my brother recorded it for me.

    Worth watching?

That was the first time he's played in his preferred CB role, which is the same CB role that Colo plays and you can't deny he was our best player on the pitch by far. We're not saying he should start or anything, just as a back up, it's more appeasing if Colo gets injured to know that we have a like for like replacement, albeit not of the same quality.

I was just trying to remember which game it was as well. I think you might be right. And yes I recall there were a few of us praising him after that game and saying he had played better than Colo. Gain a bit of confidence and get some games under his belt and I think he could actually be worth keeping about the place.

I will still not welcome the day when Perch starts another game in defence for us. It wasn't hard to be one of the best on the pitch tonight either. The sooner we have some other defender as backup the better.

Even if we had won I'd have said no. Incredibly boring game.

Shola also deserves abit of credit, not as bad as people are making out, could have had an assist or two today with Demba playing

All comes down to the partnership really. He's good when he's the ball playing CB next to the aerial CB, but once he's ****ing dreadful as the aerial CB.

Personally I want to see more of him in DM rather than CB, don't think he's a premiership CB whether he's the ball playing or aerial defender.

So Simpson should get himself sent off because he was beaten on the half way line? How was he to know they would go and score.

anyone else think the majority of posters on here are pretty much sheep in the way they form "their opinions" looking at tash's ratings later in the thread he said he gave perch a low score because he thought giving him a higher one would be frowned upon.. now not pointing the finger at him but i think that is the mentality of most on here.. too scared to form an individual opinion... why... because those who do just get ridiculed by the majority.

well anyways perch was our best player today and shola was better than best in my honest opinion. he was strong in the air won a lot shame nobody got on the end of anything, we would have won today if best didnt fluff all his chances.

people like best so he wont get hardly any blame from people.. shola is the easy target because majority opinion will always slag shola no matter how he plays

he is simply not good enough at the level we are at! he also has the imagination of a fly when on the ball, resembles a moomen and can't handle a big striker.
