Technically everybody is 48 hours from liquidation if the 48 hours is a rolling one, one would presume that there are 2 encounters which could force liquidation, the administrators of the parent company CSI selling the assets of the club but not the club itself, or the small matter of a date with HMRC in February, it is unlikely that the first will happen and if we invite HMRC out to lunch before the hearing we will probably find us exempt from tax for the next decade

On Solent earlier, Kris Temple said that Pompey are running out of time to sell players and, once the window is closed, they will not be able to sell anyone to get some money in. He then went on to suggest that maybe the rules could be relaxed to help Pompey. That is ridiculous, Pompey have rejected bids for Ward and Pearce, bids for sums which would have cleared the tax bill, so why on earth should the rules be relaxed for them?

Once the window shuts their only hope is that they get a buyer!

    Otherwise they're f*****.

For Pompey to be able to sell players outside the window, other teams have to be permitted to buy...is that fair?

So we accept £1.6 million for the only players worth any real money... great, what happens at the next tax bill? HMRC need to be going after the 'businessmen' who actually owe them money (Chanrai, Gaydamak etc.) whilst the FA sort out that bloomin' fit & proper persons test!

Then you'd better start praying, to whichever deities you might believe in, for some decent owners to come in a.s.a.p.

They are worth more than that- clubs should pay their worth of forget it- they shouldn't take advantage of a club in a bad financial state. Furthermore, Portsmouth already have the smallest squad in the Championship. If Millwall/Ipswich/Leicester value the players and respect their fellow club, an offer of £3-4 million would be a more reasonable amount <ok>

The prices of every player will depend on supply and demand. if a club is desparate for money, then the price will be lower than if they dont need to sell. Hence the £12 million for oxlade chamberlain. We didn't need to sell so Arsenal had to pay a full price. if we needed the cash to stave of liquidation, then the price would have been much lower. The hearing for Pompeys winding up order is the end of Feb (23rd I think) My understanding is that HMR&C will not negotiate once the winding up order is issued. This means that Pompey need either to sell before the end of January, or else bank on finding a new owner, or a new loan before the winding up order. This might be seen as high risk, but only Admin Andy knows the strength of the buyers bank accounts. What we don't know is if creditors are being paid, nor wages, but if there is no money for HMR&C then it does imply that the coffers are empty. If other creditors/wages are being paid, and its just the taxman who is unpaid, then that will stiffen their resolve to wind pompey up or get their money asap. Bad times.

Fact is that every team has one thing in common when they go into financial troubles, they have to sell players to stay afloat and pay the bills... because you can't afford any luxury when you're in administration.

You have bills to pay so you can't demand top fees and say no, because you need the money and you owe the taxman.

this is why I can't stand Portsmouth... this attitude that your club are somehow better than everyone else, this idea that you don't have to sell players and don't have to lose points and don't have to face any punishment at all, just because you're Pompey.

fact is that your club are breaking the law and should face the same punishments, because you aren't better than everyone else... you're not above the law.

the FA are even talking about allowing sales outside the window... they didn't do this for any other club so they shouldn't do it for you, and what;s worse is that all your fans are saying it's fair... no... you sell players in January and take any offer you can get because you don't have the frickin choice.

Chances are it'll be determined that Portsmouth are trading insolvent again and will be allowed to continue regardless... because Pompey are above the law in the eyes of it's fans.

Just die... please... die, just go out of business... please just ****ing die, I've had it with Pompey... you evil evil evil bastards, cheating arrogant hooligan scumbags.

Portsmouth = the Nazi Germany of English football.

Absolutely 100% agreed! As usual, he starts off by making a couple of good points, but then loses the plot completely. To compare a football club to Nazi Germany is beyond ridiculous.

I think Comrade has some unresolved issues in his life.

Pompey tried and failed to get permission to sell outside of the transfer window during the last admin in 2010. They will fail if they try again and think this latest suggestion is only media talk.

As for Pearce or the other guy being worth over 1.5m each. I think some fans are in dream land.

I do understand his point (though not the vitriol). We had to sell cheap because we tried to do the right thing. If in debt you have to sell assets. Don't remember anyone trying to help us..in fact it looked like the FA were trying to put nails in our coffin. Would be delighted if anyone knows any different.

Pompey are hardly in a position to dictate terms. Face it, you're going to have to take your medicine like other clubs (including Saints) have had to, sell players - and get whatever another club is willing to pay - to pay the tax bill and play fringe players and youngsters; I know you have a small squad but surely it isn't *that* small that you can't offload two or three senior players. If it means certain relegation, then too bad. It sounds harsh but that's the way it is.

Interesting point though. Players are assets, but if you can't sell them outside the window they are valueless. That will mean once the window closes Portmouth are more insolvent than ever.
