Since all this talk about playing football and the gym that's going on...

Where can you get good food in the city centre that isn't a mcdonalds or subway?

Doesnt have to be too healthy, but you know, not a help-you-have- a-heart-attack burger.

I will frequent these places if they're any good as I have a lunch break everyday.

Use subways! They do good healthy options.

Otherwise, just look for somewhere with a hippy hanging around out front.

Even their healthy options are carb laden and at least 400 calories though!

    Try Hana Hana.

Its expensive on the night time but if you go during the day between 12-2pm you can get you food cooked in front of you on a hot plate for £15 and it tastes awsome.

£15 will get you, spring rolls and chicken on a stick (marinated in some lush sauce)
    Salmon fillet
    Prawns
    Steak
    Chicken Tariaki
    Bean Sprouts
Egg fried rice BARGAIN!!!!! (The restaurant is also a popular place for Newcastle footballers. However I've been dozens of times and have yet to see one)

Try Cafe Neon in the Bigg Market. They do an awesome chicken souvlaki (skewers) with salad or chips. Really good Greek/Mediterranean food.

I love the place, go in there often on my strolls into town.

I went to Hana Hana last month for my birthday with the missus and had a scream. The food is cracking and we shared our Teppan-Yake table with none other than Justin Hoyte, Seb Hines and some other cockney footballer who was being a total bellend. They spent most of the night on their phones but joined in when the chef made everyone sing happy birthday! <laugh>

Also, we just happened to be sat next to another geordie lad who reminded me Hoyte conceded that penalty in the 1-4 win over the mackems a few years back!

Sushi is lush! Although it's generally better quality at a restaurant than yo sushi or the ilk - those revolving plate sushi places are still quite nice.
I always order if I go there though - that way you know it's freshly made and not been on the belt a while.

Greggs. With the crazy number of them round the city centre you could go to a different one every day. I've heard Newcastle owners sometimes go there, but I've been dozens of times and haven't seen one yet.

Sarah's Tuck In in the Grainger Market do the best Battered Spam Fritters ever.

I recommend getting one of this slab size fritters with chopped tomatoes in a bun.

As long as you don't mind eating it surrounded by the down and outs of Newcastle you'll be satisfied with your £1.50 purchase
