Great is pushing it a bit. I'm not even sure he was the best Irish right-back of the Premier League era, to be honest.
Thierry Henry would disagree he was once quoted as saying that Ledley was the best he had played against! and surely Terry and Adams are too similar you would want someone with a bit of pace! Oh and I am not a Spurs fan My XI P.Schmeichel G. Neville A. Cole L. King T. Adams C. Ronaldo S. Gerrard P. Vieira R. Giggs D. Bergkamp T. Henry And bench full of game changing subs Zola, Lampard, Klinnsmann, Gullitt, Cantona, Scholes, Fabregas And I also have no great affinity to Man Utd or Arsenal before you ask
I'd go 3-5-2, GK - Schmeichel, CB - Vidic, CB - Terry, CB - Carvahlo, DM - Makelele, RM - Robben, LM - Bale, AM - Ronaldo, AM - Lampard, ST - Henry, ST - Van Nistelrooy Subs : Cech, A.Cole, G.Neville, Zola, Bergkamp,Gerrard, Beckham
schmeichal(sp) Neville Bruce Adams Irwin Ronaldo Cantona Viera Giggs Klinsmann Shearer SUBS: Cech Hyppia King Roy Keane Gerrard Bale Henry
Based on the criteria, I think players that have proven themselves year in year out should only be included. Someone like Klinsman, whilst prolific, only graced the Prem for a year or so, so shouldn't be included. Schmeichel Neville Adams Vidic Cole Ronaldo Scholes Viera Giggs Bergkamp Shearer Subs: Seaman, Ferdinand, Makalele, Ginola, Gerrard, Sheringham, Henry These are the 18 (with the exception of Ronaldo who I think are just that phenomenal) that I think have consistently performed in the Premiership for almost their entire career. Shearer gets the nod ahead of Sheringham and Henry in attack as he has the goalscoring record as evidence of being the best striker ever to play in the Premiership. If not for 2-3 injury plagued seasons, he could have had 300 goals. He was one of the best finishers ever.
Schmeichel Neville Vidic Hyypia Cole Giggs Scholes Makalele Ronaldo Henry Bergkamp Subs: Cantona, Seaman, Terry (ugh), Gerrard, Shearer, Beckham, and I can't decide on the last place.
New here 1st post..... Don't agree with most of OP picks, but every one has a case apart from "CB king (captain)...not sure who you are refering too??? reconize all the other names (despite not agreeing...no shearer?)
would loved to have seen Kean and Veira in same midfield ...but they would be tackling each other (two footed and high)...even playing on same side
