He could well be our Nolan short term, a leader, pushing forward, pain in the arse to defenders, gets goals and bullies teams

Physical presence, holds it up really well, has a nasty streak, experienced, great in the air, brings people into play, could teach Connor and Ji a thing or two - DOESN'T COST US THE EARTH IN AN INFLATED WINDOW ! Would prefer a loan, but hey I'll put my trust in MON .........

While he has undoubtedly earned our respect, i can't help but wonder what the response to this speculation would have been under the previous regime.

This potential signing leaves me a bit underwhelmed - maybe as a short term expedient but no more

Sunderland are making a £1.5million move for Bolton skipper Kevin Davies.Black Cats chief Martin O'Neill, who has lost on-loan Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner to a facial injury for several games , wants to take advantage of the fact Davies has lost his regular place in Owen Coyle’s side. O’Neill needs an old-fashioned number nine and thinks he can get some life out of 34-year-old Davies, whose contract is running out at the Reebok, but wants a decision before the weekend. Coyle does not want to lose Davies so close to the deadline.

I've long admired him - if he came on an 18 month deal I think th he would do a good job for us. It is only a couple of years ago he was playing for England so I don't think he will have gone off the boil that much.

4-5 goals for us this season and 8-10 next should still be well within his range.

Blackcat we had 11 points from 14 games under Bruce and were heading out of the EPL. 8 games under Mon and we are mid table plodders, comfortable in our skins once again. Bruce had a full 8 months to find Bents replacement but failed. It's a totally different scenario.

You seem to expect Mon to replace Bent in 7 weeks and that's a little, or a lot unfair imo. Have some faith in a top manager to bring in players that will continue the superb start for the rest of the campaign.
