Good morning all, bit wet in eastern bandit country today. Looking forward to tomorrows match, the guys in my office are all Spurs supporters and seem pretty confident about it. If I'm totally honest I can't see us getting the result we really want. However the second that whistle blows I will be screaming at the TV and expecting an FA Cup upset!!!!!! COYH!!!
morning all! Not a hugely busy day ahead thankfully, though busier this afternoon than this morning. Wondering what news will come in today, and just keeping my fingers crossed that we still have Mapps tomorrow when the match starts! Hope all settles Ak, thanks for the caramel latte! Take care!
I think even if Mapps was 100% leaving, there's no chance he'd miss tomorrow. There's something wrong with saying "tomorrow" on a Thursday though...
Did someone try to delete the article side of it, but got rid of the whole thing as they are linked?? I know that H got it added as an article recently, maybe that's got something to do with it. Sorry AK, your match threads are about the best around.
Well we know it was not a Spurs mod, it was not myself or H, so it could have been someone higher (mick maybe) due to the possible libelous comments about Harry Redknap. I will endevour to find out though and have it put back if possible.
As of approx 7.20 tomorrow morning, there will be a second Watford not606 media star in 5 days as jerzeypie will be on BBC Radio Jersey. Not as glamorous as H, they came to his school and were doing a piece about ICT. What angle I don't know and I only know when it's on as I e-mailed BBC Jersey to find out as they didn't say to him. Wouldn't be a bad introductory post if he was to tell you guys about it, would it? (Have to get him posting somehow )
How was anything libellous? everything said has been mentioned in court - perhaps the person who deleted could not read either!
Easier said than done - all of those clubs were playing in the English leagues well before the Welsh league was set up in 1992 & it would have been a tad unfair to boot them out just because another league had set up. As to the 'Old Firm precedent' - that is already there too. Not only has an English club played in the Scottish leagues for years now - Berwick - a Scottish club has played in the English leagues as well. Prior to their meteoric rise through the Scottish ranks (and equally spectactular demise), Gretna played in the Northern League from their inception in 1947 (my dad played for them at the time) up until 'returning home' in 2002. Good to see them rising from the ashes and progressing up the ladder too.
You know we welcome any posters especially new ones, they have to be encouraged to post. Could be a good time to post as there no scuffles going on at the moment We will welcome him with open arms and look forward to reading his post!
Not quite the full story eh BB? There were regional Welsh Leagues in place before 1992 - there is a whole history of Welsh clubs moving back & forward between the English & Welsh leagues. Only reason for the formation of an official national league was because the Welsh FA was worried that they would lose their national team. But there is now no reason for Welsh clubs to play in English leagues, they should play in their national league that was it's own national administration and it's own national team. As for Gretna 2008, again it's a border town club who in 2002 started to live the dream of being a largish fish in a small pond and then it all went horribly wrong - but good to see them playing in the league that they should be playing in.
Other than the fact that they have been allowed to, have consequently progressed beyond what those regional leagues can offer and kicking them out would set a worrying precedent for others - God forbid that the FA could do what they want, to whom they want and when they want. I'm not advocating that 'new' clubs be allowed in - simply that those already here be allowed to stay as long as they are capable. If Cardiff or Swansea were to go belly up a la Gretna and were resurrected in the same fashion, then yes - off to the Welsh league with them, no question.
When this site started I couldn't see the point of those little bars that showed up if you were "active" or not. I never actually quite understood if I was being active against myself or the general usage of the board. Since I have returned from my enforced silence I must have gained trillions of points and wonder if I am to level 1000 yet. Strange how you become used to some things if they are put before you enough.
Aw, that's lovely ...how exciting for him and you! I'll look forward to the post It's a shame the points have stopped working then M Frenchie! Apparently there's a server problem with the points system...hopefully they'll get up and running for you again soon
