Not sure if any of you fat layabouts go to the gym... ;)

But I was wondering if any of you had any decent gym music to reccomend... I'm looking to get back into it and need some good music to keep me going, because god knows I'm gonna need it!

Suggestions? (I dont have a preferred genre)

    :)

45:33 by LCD Soundsystem - produced for a Nike promotion and excellent for training, particularly cardio.

Lo Fidelity Allstars - How To Operate With a Blown Mind, euphoric scuzzy funky and some of the biggest beats of all time.

    Rage Against the Machine.

I also find the high tempo repetition of techno - Jeff mills, Carl Craig, Robert Hood - helps but it's not to everyone's taste.

Before my back injury when I was training MMA, I used to listen to the Rocky Soundtrack during sparring and conditioning, ha.

Now I make my own playlists on iTunes.

Some Eminem - "Til I Collapse", Busta Rhymes - "Conglomerate" to get me pumped up, then some Dance music like "Gold Dust" or "9PM til I cum".

Make your own playlist or get "Running Traxx" which is an album designed for working out.

    Deadmau5 - Some Chords.
I'd also recommend songs you know all the words to. It'll distract you if you're hurting if you focus on them. That's what I find anyway

I listen to a Killing Joke compilation I made myself. Full of high tempo repetitive tracks that often build and build. Great stuff for building adrenalin and keeping you pumped up and working hard. Tracks like Exorcism, Mathmatics of Chaos, Whiteout, Invocation, the Lightbringer are particularly good.

I started running 2 miles a day in January and always start with POD - Alive to get myself going and usually have some Prodigy in the mix as well as Too Many DJs.

Don't do the gym, don't think I'd survive! Ha
I'm hardly a fat layabout though
A layabout, possibly. But never fat!

Speaking of being a layabout...I just woke up on the settee after falling asleep down here last night...the worst thing to do ever. Feel like I should be getting into bed but ya know, it's half 9 I might as well stay up and do the uni work I'm actually meant to be doing...
    Pfft...

I don't like him as he's basically selling a form of trance to people who claim to not like it/techno snobs (and I've met him - he's a proper dick in real life), but he makes damn fine music for the gym.
    Random Album Title - Deadmau5

It's beatmatched/mixed so the songs merge together, so it wont stop your flow if you're on the treadmill. Also if you look around on google, search for Mixmag and they give a free CD every month with their magazine of a DJ mix, but a lot of blogs post the mixes up to download so well worth having a look.

TBH though if you can DJ make a few mixes yourself, that way it'll be songs you like and beatmatched/mixed properly. It's what I'm going to start doing since I'm starting to get into an early training rhythm for the GNR later in the year.

Brilliant song to start with! Love the break in that song aswell btw...

Lord yes! LoG gets you pumped!! I find heavier songs, with a big, clear beat in them are good for running, or doing rep's of things (you know, weights, sit ups etc.). Stuff like Rammstein is ideal ('Du Hast' is the ultimate!).

Just make sure you actually remember to set up a playlist. Nothing like being 5 minutes into the rowing machine when a slowy comes on...

Oh, erm, Rammstein is too slow to run to btw, that was more for doings reps of stuff.
LoG/BFMV/InFlames are brilliant to run to.

Also, Hadouken! are well worth a try.
