As we are not getting the Unigate site or the Grade 1 & 2 BBC site in White City how about this one?

One of the armed forces' oldest airfields could be sold to private investors under plans being considered to help the MoD cope with budget cuts.

RAF Northolt occupies hundreds of acres in the London borough of Hillingdon, close to the M25.

The MoD said no decision had been taken but the site was being scrutinised, along with all defence expenditure, to secure "the best value for money".

    Plenty of Car park space!!

If the proposed Warren Farm site is given the go-ahead as our training ground, couldn't we also build a new stadium there? The place is huge.

We have to stay near to where we are. Any further out we wouldn't gain enough new blood supporters. Our new stadium is a proposed entertainments venue, not just our new ground. How are they going to sell that concept if we move to the middle of nowhere?

That would bring back memories....I was an Air Force Cadet at RAF Northolt and lived 5 mins from there.
To be honest the whole area is now such a s###hole i think the best thing you could do is bulldoze the whole lot.

Think back when it was built. There wasn't much over there. Different now

Point I'm making is that you can attract, if the attraction is big enough - and London is moving out all the time, so think ahead

Believe me the area around the Dome is still a wasteland. Been there many times on the knowledge and it's well and truly bleak.

The BBC already announced last year that it is completely moving out of White City, and they have plenty of other buildings in the area other than TV Centre, any of which are potential sites for a new stadium (particularly the old White City Stadium site). I don’t see why they should be looking any further than W12 at this stage.

What transport hubs are close to Northolt or Warren Farm, they're both in the back end of nowhere in terms of public transport. For people traveling from the north or east of London would probably have to pay double the fare.

I'm sure they will still be looking for somewhere closer to home before they'd think of using either site.

Typical! I used to live close enough to Northolt air field to spit into it, now that I live miles away they are thinking of building a new stadium there!!!

This is another of the A40 corridor development possibilities we have heard before. Hillingdon and Uxbridge have also been mentioned as potential sites.

The Unigate site is the only credible option regarding transport and infrastructure but at the reported asking price of £200mil (or more) it is way out of our budget. Add to that the cost of building a stadium and it becomes even more of a long shot.

I agree, but I'm wondering whether "close to home" is going to be possible - Fulham seem to have given up on the idea of moving to a new site and are extending their own ground. Chelsea are searching without an answer. I wonder what TF promised Sparky about the new ground.

Ruislip Gardens is a stones throw from RAF Northolt and its right on the A40 but other than that it is in the arse end of nowhere.

GroveRanger - Where did you live mate ?? I was born and brought up in Old Ruislip Rd.
Used to drink down 'The Tally Ho' quite often.

Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham too expensive, these derelict lands out west too far way for people to get to, doesn't sound too hopeful. And everyone tells me that building Loftus Road up and out, which would be my favourite, is not feasable. What about Gunnersbury Park? Heard it's getting run down, not enough money to maintain it etc. Think its in Ealing Borough, but it is not far away from LR, and transport links there are already pretty good. My old local area to, so I like it the more I think about it! But I suupose the Borough of Ealing will want billions for that as well..

    With respect...

Northolt is really close to Hayes, and Ruislip via the A40 and easily accessible by the Tube, and BR and M25 - alot easier for traveling fans to get too that right in the middle of Shepherds Bush. Plus the catchment area of potential new fans would stretch right over West London, into Surrey, and Berkshire.

I heard Westfield were buying unigate for a Westfield phase 2, consisting of blocks of flats, hotels etc all the land from existing shopping centre upto the A40, I hope phil beard has been in touch, I would think Westfield would be interested in a multi-use facility!
