You've completely missed the point MITO. The point is not about whose fans are "worse" or whatever, the point is that the FA have proven time and time again they will bow to media reaction. If there's any racist comments from the Liverpool fans in the 4th round, after what happened in the third round, the press reaction will just get even stronger. And once again the FA will bow to the press and throw the kitchen sink at Liverpool to prove how 'tough' they are... And do you really think than none of the 38,000 Liverpool fans will even consider flinging something racist at Evra? Heck, the lad accused of racism from the third round has been bailed and may not have been tried by then. Do you think Liverpool would try to ban him from the ground before he'd been convicted? No matter how hard the club tries they will find it very hard to keep the problem under control, as all other clubs would.
If any abuse gets chucked at Evra, it'll be because Evra's a little twat. If it mentions his ethnicity, it'll be down to a distinct lack of imagination - he has plenty of unpleasant characteristics he DOESN'T share with Johnson, Sterling, Amoo etc. that can be targetted. Snide, slow, traitor to the country of his birth, dirty tackler, I could go on for some time, but I can't be bothered.... I hear he's popular in Senegal too...
Fairy snuff - we have Carra and Stevie, You've obviously been suffering in the 'Crap tacklers' department to the extent that SirExLax has brought back that stalwart of the appalling challenge, that Prince of on-pitch assaults, that Paragon of bad tacklers - Paul "Ginger" Scholes. Your number of fouls conceded should be double overnight, given that he's not going to be match fit, so even later than he used to be in his 'foot-left-in' challenges...
The referee for this game have to be of strong character, in your opinion if you are asked to choose a referee who would that be.?
Well, sticking with the "bringing old has beens out of retirement" theme... please log in to view this image
love to see collina reffing the game - and after giving everything uniteds way, peels off his mission impossible mask to reveal howard webb
Or even if theres not but somebody makes an allegation that would be enough to whip up the media feeding frenzy. eg as far we know there is still no evidence about the allegation from the oldham game yet the media have him and the club hung drawn and quartered for it.
My point exactly. Although I though Liverpool had a policy of not apologising when there was no evidence of guilt?
whether it was racial abuse or not the oldham player clearly WAS abused and therefore he deserved the apology.
Well then I look forward to Rooney, Nani and Evra all getting personal apologies from the club after the volleys of abuse they'll get from the Kop
I'll try and get it up ASAP. Won't have time to do my own preview so i'll have to take the BBC match preview again. It isn't on the BBC Sport website at the moment so when it is, I shall post the match thread.
Liverpool and Man Utd should be about 'rivalry not hatred' - Ian Ayre Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre wants "rivalry not hatred" with Manchester United. The Reds host United at Anfield in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday. It is the first time they have met since Luis Suarez was banned for eight matches for racially abusing Patrice Evra in the 1-1 draw in October. Ayre said: "We mustn't detract from fans chanting and singing at each other but it needs to be a rivalry thing rather than a hatred thing." There have been fears that the bitter relationship between the two sets of fans could reach new levels after the Suarez suspension, resulting in an ugly atmosphere at the match.
