We're really on a shoestring budget compared to all the teams around us. Can we keep up competing or is it time to get a proper experienced striker in?

What I'm trying to say is we should just gamble and chuck it all at Billy Sharp or Nicky Maynard, we just need a proper goalscorer to compete with Fryatt for the spot. Im all for giving the lad jo king a chance but at the minute I feel as if well be relying on him a little.

We're hardly on a shoestring. West Ham, Southampton and Leicester spend more money than anyone in the league. Reading look like they could be joining either that group or Portsmouth in the near future.

We spent £5m in 2011. That puts us on a par or above anyone else. Cardiff haven't spent nearly that amount. Nor are they splashing the cash now. Leeds and Blackpool are the same. How many players in the Championship earn more than Olofinjana per week?

Billy Sharp isn't worth £3m. Nicky Maynard with 6 months on his contract isn't worth £2.5m. Neither guarantee that we'll finish any higher than we already will. We should support NB's decision not to spend stupid money. Especially as we all know were financial gambling will get you.

So we might miss out on promotion? Who cares? We'll still have a football club next year and we'll still be competitive.

Re read my post mate, there's a hidden clue in there regarding one of our players ;)

But for what it's worth I agree completely with you, although I wouldn't mind seeing a proper experienced striker come in, Kenny Miller would be my choice although I know we won't get him, I've been really impressed with him at Cardiff and didn't he only cost them a couple of hundred grand? We missed out there opting for Adebola instead <doh>

They got him on an 18 month contract for an undisclosed fee.
I trust NB's judgement but can't help feeling he is the type of player that could have been the missing ingredient with our existing forwards.
We also probably could have competed with Reading's bid.

GOTCHA PB, GOTHCA. Well interesting news from the southwest has it that Nicky Maynard will see out his contract at Bristol. WBA and Wolvers want him but he does not fancy a relegation battle, SSN report. Interesting news.

After the match (it's deadline day afterall) AP needs to take Don Vito with him and have a quiet word with John Ryan and Billy Sharp. Make them an offer they can't refuse, so to speak.

Adam "We want Billy to sign for us"
    Ryan "Billy ain't for sale"
Adam "Either Billy's signature or your brains will be on that contract"
Ryan "Give us a lend of your pen Mr Pearson. £3m wasn't it?"
    Adam "£1.85m"
Ryan "Oh that's right, my mistake. You're a Tiger now Billy"
    Don Vito "Kissa ma ring"

    Capiche?

You can have Steve Howard if you want - swap for James Chester, of whom I'm looking forward to seeing in a Leicester shirt.

joking aside, you tot up what our first team might be worth in the not too distant future compared to what we bought them for.. we're defo upping the value of our "assets":

Chester, Dudgeon, Rosenior, Evans, Stewart & Hobbs will all have potential sell-on value
We'd probably break even on Fryatt and make a loss on Mclean
We'd make a loss on Oli too unless he stars big time if and when McKenna & Evans lose form.
Cairney might be worth a bob or two if he gets in the side more
Dawson has earned his value countless times over
Others are on loan but Mannone & Brady are potential investments. Vito is a young keeper, good keepers (if he fulfills his promise) are hard to find
We wouldn't lose out on Simpson either he only cost £50k and he's worth more than that.
Garcia won't be worth much these days
Kilbane & Adebola will surely be released
Harper may go on a free or small fee
forgot McKenna, didn't we get him for free? bet he's got a small value now though! another plus.

So HCAFC are doing very well thanks v much, in no small part to one Mr AP I suspect.
