Its a very good shout RV. Could hardly have been more impressive. A win today for Champagne Fever will really frank his form.
Champagne Fever went off odds on that day but ran extremely green. I would expect it to improve a huge amount from that run.
That said, Thomas Edison could have beaten him ten lengths that day easily had they wanted!

I took a bit of the 20s E/W with Totesport about Champagne Fever in the Champion Bumper. Best price anywhere is 16s now and he's due to run in 10 mins at Fairyhouse. The way my luck has been this weekend he'll probably get beat and be back out to 25s <laugh>

Silly season bets:

A £10 free bet with Stan James so obviously the best way to go was an EW Accy! <laugh>

Peddlers Cross - Arkle - 5/1
Quevega - Mares - 11/10
Simonsig - Neptune - 10/1
Sizing Europe - Champion Chase - 2/1
Big Buck's - World Hurdle - 8/15

Potential Return: £3263.15 <cheers>

Had a 1pt bet on Make Your Mark at 100/1 on Betfair for the Supreme Novice.

He ran in a 2m bumper and then won a 2m 4f maiden hurdle, and runs over the same distance again this time out.

However, he looks a horse who is not short of speed and I thought I'd just have a very small cover on that in case Willie drops him back down for Cheltenham, given the strength of the Neptune.

Toppy: Nice one mate, that Supreme has got me this year! I have backed Prospect Wells but after giving up all hope he may well be on the mend after an operation on his throat!

Toppy: You may want to cover your bet on Sir des Champs with one for the Jewson mate whilst he is still 12s? The next declaration stage is tomorrow (i think) and the first 4 or 5 will come out of the betting leaving SDC and Solix moving in from 12s to probably 6s or less!!

For Non Stop could go well in this race too!

More rumours saying Oscar Whisky could be heading back for the Champion Hurdle after all LOL what are they doing

Cheers for the heads up GDC! <cheers>

The market suggests the Jewson but Willie thinks he is a stayer with a cruising speed. I think if Grands Crus is Gold Cup bound, sdc will go to the RSA.

I still think the treble on Long run,. Sizing Europe and Hurricane Fly - which pays 23/1 with B365 - is not a bad bet. Other than that i already have Bobs Worth for RSA, Gevrey Chambertin for the bumper and Cinders and Ashes for the supreme.

That might not be a bad bet but a much better bet is to place a fourfold on the above named plus Big Buck's which pays 35.56/1 with Bet365.

The bet that is tempting me at the moment is Captain Chris at 8/1 EW with Bet365 in the w/o Kauto Star and Long Run market for the Gold Cup.

After Grands Crus' defection from the Argento I think his participation in the Gold Cup must be doubtful. Let us for a minute assume that he does not run. On the likely spring ground, I would fancy Captain Chris to beat everything else, and I find it impossible to see 3 other horses (ie not Kauto or Long Run) beating him meaning that this is a bet to nothing. If Grands Crus does run then he might also beat Captain Chris but I can't see anything else to beat him.

Obviously a lot will hinge on his performance in the Argento at the weekend but if he were to win well then I am quite sure that the 8/1 will be long gone.

What do others think?

Got 'em in a €9 yankee (don't ask me why) - pays just over a grand if they all win <ok>

Diamond Harry
Synchronised <laugh> or not?
What A Friend
QDLR
Whatever wins the Irish Hennessey

I'm not sure CC gets the Gold Cup trip at Gold Cup pace .............................. but if he hacks up in the Argento then I'm a believer :)

Wierd Al - Weird indeed. Think he could go well if he's on form.
Diamond Harry - No diamond for me. Best fresh and this talk of him suddenly improving for the run is bollocks.
Synchronised - I think you have it with the 'or not'
What A Friend - What a dog.
QDLR - Quito De La Slow.
Whatever wins the Irish Hennessey - No. Nothing good will run in it. The only possible is Quel Esprit.

I'm not sure CC gets the Gold Cup trip at Gold Cup pace - I think he will. Always been crying out for a trip IMO.

If he ran in the Ryanair he'd have an outstanding chance so you could recoup losses easily.

I get the feeling you're not loving it Oddy?! <laugh>
