My opinion is if i pull a lass at a club and she's underage, it's the bouncer's fault.

That didn't work for Graham Rix, and it won't work for you. ;)

My concern with it is the idea of going out for a night out and not being able to get in because she doesn't have ID. Plus you're not an adult until you're 18, being 28 I can't be doing with the idea that my girlfriend isn't an adult. Would just feel wrong. When I was your age I'd have gone 16+, but I'm a bit older than that now.

18 if you're in France at the time, unless it's just hookers that have to be 18. (Those French players that got done for doing the 17 year old hooker)

I'm not planning on going to France for the foreseeable, though i do wish the french would make their mind up on their rules! One says i'm allowed down to 17.5 and another says i have to wait until they're 18!! :emoticon-0105-wink:

The French rule governs relationships, the French law governs just the sex part. You can be going out with someone who's 17.5, you just can't **** them til they're 18.

I'm intrigued, is the rule on relationships actually real?!?!

Please don't let your response be, "yes and if you say gullible really slowly it sounds like orange"

In France, you can get married at 16, but the legal age for consent is 18, so if you marry young and contest a divorce on the grounds of non-consummation, you get 5 years for peadophilia.

The half your age plus 7 thing is a widely known thing, thought to come from some historical french thinking about social acceptability (it's not a written rule).

Sometimes it's thought of as the age of woman a man of the higher age is most likely to be attracted to, that way though doesn't explain midlife crisis resulting in guys in their 40s and 50s banging women in their early 20s. And would also suggest that 16 year olds find 15 year olds more attractive than 19 year olds. So clearly bollocks because if a 16 year old is going to want to get together with one of his mate's sisters it's going to be an older sister.

On a similar theme there's the Thai rule, half your age and then half it again. :p

The French would allow me down to 24 then....... which is handy as that is my GF's age! Not that I take any notice of the French anyway of course.

Don't forget the Austrian rule: As long as she is your daughter and is happy to live in the cellar, it doesn't matter how old she is.<grr>
