Well that was my point, he did score goals but his mentality let him down & he could have gone on to better things. Various England managers thought enough of him to start him even when he couldn't buy a goal, I'm sure they knew a bit more about football than yourself (obviously not rugby, you trump them on that) ! Just for the record in his 1st full season at Liverpool he scored 22 goals, which was more than Andy Cole scored in his 1st full season & more than Diego Forlan scored in his entire 4 seasons at Utd ! So he could hit the net ! he just fell apart from there, hence why I said he was a wasted talent.
Mornin all, see the "banter" is up and running again. **** me am I nervous about today, normally don't have this feeling but I got a really ****ty feeling about today for some reason.
It is interesting how Heskey's goalscoring (and quality) got progressively worse the longer he stayed at Liverpool. It's almost as if playing for Liverpool permanently damaged him and he has never fully recovered....
I know precisely jack **** about rugby. If any of these various England managers had had a single shred of success I would accept that they know more on the subject than me, but given that to a man they were abject failures at their jobs I don't accept this and know with 100% certainty that I am correct in saying that Emile Heskey is piss poor as a centre forward. Whether his inabilty to finish is down to his mentaility, as you suggest, or that he was just a **** finisher is open to debate of course. You have your opinion, I have mine. Nice bloke but, ultimately, a **** footballer.
And now they are at it with Mandy carroll... he is getting worse too.. has all the same attributes as heskey, misses barn doors, falls over a lot.
Thats interesting, as every other player* thats left Liverpool have gone on to be better players. *Excludes ladyboy Torres and other **** players
it was his B-day yesterday so I am sure the build up, the day of, and today he will be celebrating Btw, who do you want to win today between us and city?
phew tough call.. I suppose you lot ... I mean youse lot, I can't get my around City being in another Cup final. Plus I think Cardiff have more chance against you than City
City. Gives them something else to think about. Although obviously they then have a break over the weekend while we take on you lot so not sure if that actually works.
Based on his weird theory about Liverpool's results being linked the the LHC, I would guess he's in Switzerland right now tinkering around with a tool kit and screaming "Why won't you damn beams focus? There's an FA Cup match this weekend! FOCUS DAMMIT!!!"
I'm just keeping my thoughts on the game to myself today as we have been so topsy turvy this year, who knows what will show up. Website and clarke are saying we will be positive but this game reeks of us sitting back with 9 defensive players again.
Well he wasn't exactly prolific before hand was he so that's pretty stupid, that 1st full Liverpool season was his highest ever, after that he returned to his previous form. We bought potential which you could see in abundance prior to the later years, he fulfilled it 1st season and didnt there after, like they say even a broken clocks right twice a day ! (analogue obviously)
I have this image of him looking like Christopher Lloydâs character from Back to the Future, albeit a grumpy but slightly twee scouse version of him. Which fictional character do you think represents the miserable old git best?
Well I didnt say I rated him, I said he HAD potential (many moons ago) and never fulfilled it, which I'm sure any sane person would agree on. I personally don't rate him as a footballer these days but then he had his uses for England, his role didn't require him to finish he was there to bully the opposition defence and hold the ball up for the attacking mids & Michael Owen, a role which he excelled at at times. Crap finisher, that's not debatable.
Man City are going to come at us as they are a goal down.....if we dont have any pace on the pitch to make us effective on the counter im going to turn up at melwood next monday and demonstrate my own pace as it would clearly benefit the team......I have **** all football talent, but I can run like an Impala.........And given the lack of talent of some of our midfield i think i would be a definate starter
