TheBear - you miss my point entirely.

Just because I have a new tv, better tech than the old tv, much better picture and sound, that dosn't mean I shouldn't complain if it breaks down once in a while, when compared to my old tv that might've broken down loads!

and how do u suppose we get success, because at this time we cant afford to be buying superstars/worldclass players while we have man city/psg/RM/Barca/man utd offering players double what we can.

what i can see on this forum is lots of doom mongers suggesting we buy this player that player but what i dont see is can we afford to pay them 150k+ a wk
untill the board(not wenger) up the wage cap then we will keep on buying dross as you say

fans play a big part in the success of football teams in more ways than one so get behind the players and wenger then success might come sooner rather than later

there has been loadsa comment on the wage ceiling that appears to be the Clubs decision.
Tricky -- anything over £50k per week is a FORTUNE. However many clubs are attracting the better players with offers over £100k,
and seemingly able to outbid Arsenal.

So do we stick with young unknowns and maybe slide down the table, or swallow hard and start upping the ceiling?

I take it you mean we are paying the minor players too much ?
I hear opinions that that is true. Certainly the number of playing staff seems way too many, and it has been said Wenger attracts them with good wages.

Yes cull and - pay the stars more.

I read somewhere last week about Adebayor boasting to the Spurs players that he was earning £225,000 PW.How can the majority of clubs compete with that ?

I don't believe that for 1 moment. Even 'Arry doesn't have that much in offshore accounts - bless 'im.

This is definitely an option, but I think we do need a development system of sorts, looking at the number of players that we use from the program. For every superstar we pay big wages to, we would need to cut 3 or 4 youth players. Man City's wages are over double ours, we still couldn't get near them.

'ARRY -- I'll help break him out - can't have the funniest manager getting banged up.

    - and Rosie will miss her walkies.

    We have a huge squad.
Its too big in fact. Too big and too in-experinced.

Why do soo many players make into our first team squad only to play maybe a handful of games a season (and perhaps a few carling cup games)?

If they are not ready they should stay in the reserves and get paid like a reserve player.

Can we really justify giving... Mannone, Park, Miyaichi, Bendtner, Denilson, Lansbury, Vela first team wages this season??

being that only 2 players from that list are still at the club with the rest on loan and at respectable clubs that could afford to pay all their wages (not sure tho) then your example is floored

I can't remember where i read it now but the story was something about discipline and fining players.Apparently one of the Spurs players was meant to have mentioned Adebayors wages and he susposedly boasted about the £225,000 wage

My solution would be to shift a few of the fringe players on and reduce the wages of those in the lower brackets. As much as we don't like seeing players on £100+ per week, I think we may need to pay this sort of wage if we want to attract top players in the future. I'm not saying that we should do a City (we couldn't even if we wanted to) and have the whole team on massive wages, but I think players like RVP should be rewarded with wages that are comparable with those around him playing at a similar level.

Football has a BIG problem with the contracts. Once signed the player can ease off and not bother.
Fines are max 2 weeks wages , I believe.
Then as the last year nears they have Bosman.

Its all wrong I tell you.

Yeah it was in the guardian, I read it too. Also I really doubt Redknapp will go to prison, i'm not sure how he will get away with it but I just know he will <laugh>
