If we do press ahead and try and finalise the Mariappa deal. Do you think this would have any baring on whether or not Colo signs his new contract?

If we signed a higher quality of partner for him, such as the Samba, Douglas etc you would think he would be much happier and see a brighter more optimistic future than if we signed a Championship player.

Methinks he's just cover as we really cannot afford Perch as CD

    We're signing a 4th choice CB.

Saylor is Colo's partner. Williamson is back up. Marriappa is emergency cover and perhaps something for the future. Shouldn't have any affect

I'd see it the other way round tbh.

If we sign Samba it'd be a sign that the club sont expect Colo to continue here

Coloccini refuses to sign new contract. Skipper will leave Magpies as free agent. ow.ly/8FQnd #nufc

I just get this inescapable feeling that he's not ever going to sign it, and he'll be off in the summer a year before his contract runs out. We'll have to spend fairly big and extremely well to replace him - we'll have to do it eventually anyway, it'll just be such a massive shame if we never see the Colo/Saylor partnership again.

This Marriappa kid will not be fit to replace Colo's smarts and leadership, and I don't think Saylor's ready yet (or maybe ever will be) either despite his love for the club.

I reckon Colo will leave tbh, really hope I'm wrong. But it seems he is on very high wages which is way more than we pay these days.

Vertoghen would be a good replacement mind - but he ain't Colo...

Yeah, I'm not worried. I just expect the worst. That way, I won't be as disappointed if he does leave.

He is our best player though, and we should be looking to keep him even if it means giving him higher pay. The man is awesome.

I reckon he wants to stay and he loves it here, but got a feeling they want him to take a pay cut and why should he do that when he's our best player.

Without being funny about it, he's got 18 months left to run on his current deal so why panic now? I know it'd be nice to get him nailed down, but I'd expect real negotiations to go on in the Summer. We got burned by Enrique, but Coloccinis a seasoned pro and our club captain, I fully expect him to sign up.

Every player seems loyal to their club until another club offers them more money tbh.

If Colo does go ( and I pray he doesn't) I hope he goes abroad. I couldn't take it if he went to another Premiership team. If it was Liverpool I may have to commit meat hook sodomy to Dalglish myself
