So there are seven days left in this transfer window. And we are yet to sell, or buy, anyone. In all honesty, I'm not surprised. and i won't be surprised if it stays this way all the way until the 1st February. What does everyone think? Are we going to have any action in this window? Or are we all going to be disappointed and frustrated?

Not sure what to think really. It was an all or nothing window. Either go out and break the bank on a few important signings and really mount a challenge for 4th or stick with what we've got and limp to the end of the season, hoping we get Europa League rather than nothing, then invest over the summer

Looks like a nothing window to me :( Its a shame If the manager and dc honestly believe that our current squad is good enough for top four. Well be lucky to get sixth IMHO.

I think we will buy 1 player and it will be a striker.

    Agreed!
With Kuyt's goal drought and Bellamy's dodgy knee's we don't really
have our full quota of strikers so yeah,i think we will.

Im doubtful. tbh, i don't want us to buy half heartedly and end up with another Carroll. I want a big signing that will turn heads for the right reason, not the price.

I think Texeira ( striker from Groningen) and Teixeira ( 19 yo midfielder from Sporting ) will come in.IMO we NEED at least 1 more a WINGER.Krasic on loan is a no brainer for me,or perhaps Hoilett( I have a feeling we may be signing him on a free in the summer)

Ive been disappointed with us in this window, the frailties are there to see.We have nowhere near enough creativity and killer instinct.Defensively we generally are ok

Im just hoping its the owners not wantin to give Kenny the money, and not the fact they dont wanna spend it.Cos to be successful in this game, you have to spend cash, whether NESV like it or not

Its been quiet all around. May see more this week, but its been a very quiet window for all the Prem clubs, Cahill and Cisse the only two of note so far

Problem is the only clubs with money have decided to go for cheap-ish options (Henry, Scholes & Cahill) or decided to do nothing at all (Us, Spurs & City). That means the money isn't filtering down to other clubs and as a result no one is spending.

we all knew it would be quiet so this comes as no suprise. I think other clubs have avoided spending as they are chugging along quite nicely

Window generally livens up last 2 days i'd be suprised if we didnt bring anyone in. I agree a winger is a must but i think we have more pressing needs. A striker with touch and pace & a defensive mid are essential, I know spearing is coming back who i rate better than Adam & Henderson but he should be back up for that position anyway.

A pacy right winger would be great, but not at the expense of the 2 positions mentioned, worst case Glenn can put a shift in on the right with kelly taking his place. The owners have put their hand in their pocket without great success but if we do spend theres players we can recoup the money on if we sell in the summer. Bigger picture an all.

As far as i'm concerned Adam should be sold, that's 9m right there, then theres Aqualani & cole still on the books, not forgetting the 35m man. The cups and 4th place are still to play for were 6points behind with chelsea yet to come to Anfield, it is a tall ask but he who dares wins !

The Tex kids may coming but wont feature heavily, if we were to buy a player to fit in straight away and help our pursuit for top 4 I think he would have come already. Wouldn't like to see a deadline day signing, it should be conducted early like Chelsea with Cahill when there was no rush to sign the contract etc.

Spearing is the back up - you're not seriously asking for a backup to the backup, are you?

Pacy right winger? Step forward Raheem Sterling. He's a pacy winger, can play all across the pitch. Why don't we keep the cash in the pocket and give him a try?

Why sell a player after half a season? Rafa was slaughtered over Keane for doing just that. Adam has been good in fits and starts. Aquilani will sadly never play for the club by his own choice. Cole probably doesn't want to come back, so we will have money coming in sometime soon, but why spend it now when we've not tapped into the Academy products yet. Suso, Sterling, Coady, Ngoo, all available for Kenny to give a try to. Should be the first port of call, not a panicked winder transfer...

To be fair I would like another box to box type DM like M'Villa to play alongside Lucas when he returns.

You can only have 25 players (plus youth) in the league squad - who are you dropping from the 25 to make way for not-Fat-Yann?

After Alonso left it was Lucas and Mascherano in central midfield...Spearing was back up. There will be plenty of space for him, better option to have over Adam.

IMO - Spearing is not good enough. We've seen since Lucas has been injured that Spearing can't handle the role. Most will disagree with me but I have seen the opposition getting in behind our midfield on so many occassions hence why we have conceded a fair few goals recently.

M'Villa would be a very good signing - gives us a physical presence and is technical. A better prospect that Spearing.

Furthermore, a lot of people are calling on us to use youngsters. This is not the time or environment to be using them - we are fighting for a top 4 place and there is a lot of pressure. I remember then Insua and Ngog, who were steadily rotated into the squad and performed well. Then Aurelio and Torres were both injured for a long time and they were chucked in at the deep end and everyone slagged them off. Are we going to do the same to Raheem if he doesn't perform?

P.S - I don't agree with selling Adam. He has performed alright, but he is definately missing Lucas. He does however need to improve but that can be said of a lot of other players in the squad.

Hypothetically speaking, if we were to get rid of Adam, I would like to see Ever Banega as a replacement.

You have to remember he didn't play vs Bolton and before he was injured at City he did pretty well. He also did well when we lost 3-0 despite the score line and vs Newcastle. Good enough for back up but not to help us fight for 4th by himself till the end of the season. Anyone know when he is due back by the way?
