    Ask yourself this.

If we were all still on the Beeb, would Jayram's behaviour have been deemed acceptable?

  4. Well as you know Murray, emotions can and do run high at matches and especially when our team is playing because fans are distraught at what is happening to the club.

Free speech is still free speech and Jayram has a right to make his observations just as others, including members who feel differently to him. If HF or Magic Man were to have their privileges withdrawn for holding their opinion, I would hope too that we speak out for them. I know now that I would because this remains a forum. However to some, this debating chamber is seemingly open to a certain line of debate.

Yeah yeah, someone gets disciplined for being a disrespectful arse who constantly breaks the rules, and suddenly "OMG MOD ABUSE!!!"

May I suggest that if you don't like people being disciplined, you go somewhere else? Personally I think this forum is a cesspool right now thanks to people like jayram and anyone else who thinks that respect for anyone is optional. You're quite lucky the mods are so lenient with you, and attempting to bully them now that they've taken action against your mate would get you a one-way ticket to the banhammer if this was one of the forums I moderate.

tl;dr: Grow up, he deserved it.

  7. We have not bullied the mods. I think you'll find it is the other way round.

jayram's "emotions" must've been running high on a near 24 hour basis then, if you're going to try and justify bad behaviour that way.

You can express your opinion all you want. Jayram didn't "express his opinion". He behaved like a complete dick, near constantly. Ban = deserved, end of story.

I don't think he wasn't banned for having opinions contrary to the mods, he was banned for being personally offensive on a continuous basis for days and weeks on end. It was grating to read, it ruined proper debate. If he'd said some of those things to his mates in a pub, I don't think he would have had many friends left by the end of a game. So why should it be tollerated here?

JAYRAM sometimes got OTT - but he did get endless abuse for his views- or are you conveniently ignoring that?
As I say - ignore posters who offend - you obviously HAVE to respond to me - because you disagree.

Sounds like where you are a MOD - you run a real fun place .....ahem.

  11. I remember that people who believed there could be something more used to tunnel their way out under barbed wire or scale walls to freedom. They wanted free speech.

Perhaps if we just left, we might find somewhere where we could indeed associate freely.

What would happen to this place then? Piskie would have his shrine. I'm sure he'd like that since a debating chamber has proven not to be to his taste. I'm almost sure the forum's owners would think differently.

I really must plead ignorance here, as far as I'm concerned Jayram has not said anything I would deem unacceptable. He is a pessimist and is forceful and provocative with his view but I don't believe he has been offensive or inappropriate. Unless of course you know something I don't?

Then set up your own forum?

Then when people behave like dicks on it and call you a Nazi for banning them, maybe you'll understand. ;)

  16. That's just it Mr Dutch Master

Forums are private playgrounds. Free speech isn't altogether the order of business. I wonder if what we have here is what our owners intended.

Jayram is lying in a pool of blood - stabbed in the name of free speech.

He never got abuse for his views. People have expressed similar sentiments to him without getting any grief for it. He got abuse because the way he did it was that of a prize dickhead.

The fact that this thread still exists is evidence of the mods sleeping, I expect.

    It is. :)

    You can't come though.

  20. I have my own forum though not a sporting one. Thank you for your advice but we don't have many who behave as you claim and if you allow and encourage members to engage responsibly and that includes not baiting them at every turn, then the vast majority will see you for what you are and what your forum is.

Now getting back to Jayram, can you honestly say he was out of line because he held his opinion about the management of our club and some of it's players? Or is it not more to the point that he dared to debate his views with a mod who didn't share his opinion that has resulted in his unexplained and unscheduled absence?
