I've just been browsing on their board, and there's a thread started on this very topic, claiming that Whinger will be replaced by The Special One. I confess, that I very nearly pissed in my pants! There are so many things with this to laugh about. Firstly, even PISKIE, who has been Whinger's only real supporter over on the Gooner board, is agreeing that Mourhinio would be an ideal replacement, so has, at last, effectively turned his back on Whinger, his hero. Secondly, the idea that the extravagant Portuguese with a liking for spending big money on big players would go to Arsenal, probably the meanest of all the big clubs in Europe's elite, is simply too funny for words He'd get more joy out of the Indian chicken farmers over at Blackburn! I know this is going to sound like arrogance to some of our rival fans, but I honestly believe that if Quello Speciale really is looking to return to English football, it will be as Harry's replacement, not Whinger's. We fit the bill so much more readily than Arsenal and it's board of octogenarians, whose ideal of running a football club is stuck in the 70s. They won't let go of Whinger, because he suits them down to the ground, and he has been covering their arses for so long. I can understand why even the likes of PISKIE has had his head turned at the thought of being managed by an exciting, vibrant, creative manager, in place of the tired, staid, obstreperous, whinge-bag that they currently are forced to endure, but - let's get real, here - it is never going to happen. Quello Speciale to Spurs, though...? Now that is not so far-fetched.
i 've just read that, asked if they want him because the Chav's were boring under him,not that he'd go there,he wants a bigger team, like us
I think that Mourinho's destined to return to England, but Arsenal looks like an unlikely destination, unless they have a serious change of heart about their spending and their style of football. I dread to think what he'd make of some of their more spineless performances recently. It may well depend upon who wins the title this season. If Ferguson were to pip Mancini to 1st place, then he may decide to step aside and create one opening, whereas the Italian may not have as much choice in creating another. The other possibility would be a return to Chelsea, but I really can't see Abramovich making such a controversial move. Perhaps he could consider swallowing his pride if they were to miss out on a top 4 finish?
As I keep saying, Mourinho only goes to the team with the highest transfer budget - Porto, Chelsea, Inter, Real - so a move to Arsenal or MUPLC is highly unlikely. Anzhi Makhachkala, Shanghai Shenhua or the LA Galaxy on the other hand...
I think RA has had to learn a lot over the last couple of years, esp since January and his red button "GET ME TORRES" approach. He and JM made up a long time ago, so it's not unfeasible that they could re-unite but Mourhino would make some seriously strong demands, ie see what I've done at Inter, look what I'm doing in Spain... The thing is with us it's the idiots at board level that are the nobs who influence Abramovic...see the Eugene Tennenbaum and Ray Wilkins incident for example. I don't think he'll go to you, or Arsenal...there are three clubs in contention though...
Geordies aren't allowed to use those words, as they invoke sniggers of irony from anyone else that hears them doing so. Sorry.
Personally, I want Whinger to make good on his promise never to leave you. Much in the same way that I didn't want 'Pool to get rid of Benitez.
I hope Whinger stays at Arsenal for the next 10 years. He moved them from "boring boring Arsenal" (albeit successful) to Dazzling Arsenal (again successful) onto Hapless Arsenal (where they are now) and they show no sign of getting out of this. Mourhinio would take them straight back to stage one, but his methods seem to involve spending lots of cash, something that precludes him coming to Spurs at least for a while. Remember, we had a brief flirtation with winning at all costs when we hired Graham, I reckon never again. We will always be a club that demands the team play with a certain style, at least try to. I can't really imagine us bringing the special one to The Lane.
