To follow up Lucy Wadham's lovely winner today we can expect another one from the yard tomorrow to win in just as easy fashion. This comes in the form of MANSHOOR 3.20 Lingfield 4-1. This horse is a 76 rated winner on the surface now running off a mark of 59. There is no problem with the horses wellbeing and it will be a major surprise if he doesnt winning doing the proverbial cartwheels.
What do you think to the Pipe horse in the 3.00 - everything looks ideal and I think his form last season is much better than this field
It still led turning in last time NASS and stayed on pretty well even though the front three went away. Little wrong with the form of the race either. I certainly wouldnt be putting you off though the market is all about two horses currently. I shouted up Jonjo's when it was eights earlier...its looking a really trappy race! What do you make of Manshoor my sandrat advisor?
Backed Manshoor when the market opened on BetVictor, was the one horse I had been waiting for. Done it in an EW double with the Pipe horse too.
Oh and my notes for the horse read - AW, ran well behind Barney plot, better than mark. Will win in time, especially over further.
3.35 Limerick Andreas Answer 9/1 Like the look of J.P Fogarty's 8 year old who is in good form at present and appears on the upgrade on the basis of his last few efforts (although he fell LTO). The main reason I am putting Andreas Answer up is that he finished just ahead of The Hard Hat, a horse I am quite fond of, on his last completed start when finishing a 2.5L beaten 2nd behind In Great Form, although the winning margin is a bit kind to Andreas Answer as In Great Form was heavily eased at the end and could have won much easier, but he's a very well handicapped horse. However, The Hard Hat is a fine bench mark and there was a lot to like about this effort as he was headed in the run in before staying on strongly at the finish at Fairyhouse over 3m1f earlier this month. He was 5lb out of the handicap that day racing off a mark of effectively 93, and he's up 3lb from that effort to a mark of 96. Before falling, his last effort was the 4th consecutive good performance, with 2 2nds and 3rd coming in this sequence with a fall at last when holding every chance the other effort to emerge from the 4. He seems to have been a bit unlucky running into well handicapped horses recently and is still a maiden. 5 starts ago he finished 2nd to Groody Hill who is a very progressive animal who has won 2 of his last 3 starts with his final effort a fantastic 3rd in a Grade B Handicap at the Leopardstown Christmas Festival off a 27lb higher mark. Andrea's other 2 completed efforts were both behind In Great Form who seems to be progressing at a rate of naughts. The talented Tom Doyle takes the ride and the pair seem to get on very well together. He'll have to defy a career high mark of 96 to land this but he's been in great form in his completed starts. Its a bit of a concern that the trainer is winnerless in 11 months but Andreas Answer has run well enough to let me overlook this stat and with ground and trip to suit I think he's worth a small play at a nice price.
3.50 Lingfield Shifting Star 11/2 John Bridger's 7 year old really deserves to be winning this after going down by a short head on his last 2 starts, including over C+D when losing on the bob to Novellen Lad 2 starts back and behind Sunset Kitty LTO. Although in some cases it could be stated that horses like this lack the desire to win, Shifting Star fought tooth and nail and was very unlucky in defeat both times. He was raised 2lb after his effort behind Novellen Lad and has been raised a further pound after his last start but I think Sunset Kitty is very much an improving animal, who is entered into a Class 2 on Saturday, and that on that form Shifting Star should be very hard to beat. Shifting Star stays in a Class 4 like her last 2 starts and my only concern is that the blinkers, which have been on the last twice, are removed tomorrow and as long as this does not have a detrimental effect he should have every chance. Ian Mongan takes the ride again and hopefully he can gain John Bridger's charge a well deserved win at the 3rd time of asking.
Morning everyone Rookie trainer Martin Weston has a good record with his small string (this season 1 winner, 2 seconds and a 3rd from 4 runners) and he sends two to Hereford today - in the opener the ex-Mark Johnston trained Green Lightening and in the 3.00 the ex-Paul Nicholls traind Advisor. Green Lightening won a class 3 handicap at Newmarket off 78 and was top-rated 83. He slipped down the ratings last season (possibly as a result of being run exclusively on the all-weather and maybe not taking to the surface???) but did manage to win a class 6 at Wolves off 60 over 14f ("stayed on well"). Advisor was a decent novice hurdler for Paul Nicholls but was probably over-rated by the handicapper at 135. I was quite taken by his first run for Martin Weston where he cantered to the front on the home turn and, despite idling in front, ran out a comfortable winner. That was over 2m4f and last time, over 2m1f, he just didn't have the speed to get to the winner. I think the step up in trip today will really suit him and he can travel strongly into the race and hopefully get away from them at the business end. I've had a very little and very speculative e/w double - Green Lightening probably a massive price, Advisor around the 12/1 mark. His lad Mr T (maybe Martin is a fan of the A-Team?) rides both and takes off 5lbs. Best of luck everyone.
You wouldn't believe it Oddy, but on one of the channels here The A Team and Macgyver give us 2 hours of continued misery each week day. The wife watches then both.
Good morning! Oddy: What channel do you get "It's always sunny in Philadelphia" on? Watched "Suits" (legal drama) on DaveTV last night. Quite good. Cyc: I can sympathize with you! Don't have to stay frosty, it is!
I watched a few episodes of Suits Swanny. I didn't mind it at first, but it quickly got into the mushy soap stuff.
Cyc: Ah, have made a note of that. Will give it another try next week, will back-off when it becomes soapy though. Thanks..................
Morning all, my decision to go to the pictures last night - pictures an apt choice of word here given that there was no talking! - has meant I haven't really been able to get stuck into many of the handicaps. I do like the look of Manshoor so I'm putting him in a decent priced treble with Destroyed Deployed in the 2nd at Hereford and Flaming Arrow in the last at Musselburgh.
What horse will we see a plunge on today? Its bound to be something with a Scottish name, perhaps Ginger Monkey?
Macgyver is a total hero - very very cool what he manages to knock together from what he finds in an abandoned shack
Downloaded it Swanny - I can tell you how but perhaps not on here, let me know if you're interested and I'll PM you
