I've got three. 1. My first game. We beat Man City 2-1 in the first premier league season. It was a school trip and it was the first time we'd beaten them in God knows how long apparently. 2. I think it was the second premier league season, so 93/94, we beat QPR 4-2. Fantastic game, made all the more enjoyable by my cousin losing his voice half way through the second half as it was his first game. 3. Norwich 3, Preston 2. Final home game of the Div 1 championship winning season. An absolute party from start to finish. Hucks terrorised the Preston defence all game long. It was Roberts last home game and he got one hell of a send off and to top it all off West Brom, our closest chellengers lost 1-0 to Reading to raise the roof in Carrow Road even higher and pretty much hand us the title.
Norwich 4-4 Middlesboro in 2005 was pretty special. It looked bleak at 4-1 down, bottom of the league with home fans pouring out of the ground. Brilliant fightback to get back to 4-4. With Dean Ashton in the team anything seemed possible!!! (turns out it wasn't)
Impossible to really know, but the one that I can remember very vividly and going absolutely mental as a13 year old was a 2-1 win against Grimbsy, we got the winner quite late on and at that point I believed promotion was a reality. An evening game as well, always more exciting for a young fella.
Norwich V QPR back in 1994 we beat them 4-2 I remember we scored three goals in the space of five minutes I remember Eadie was absolutely immense. In recent years I've had some excellent home matches probably because we've won practically every one I went too, the 6-0 against Scunthorpe, the 2-2 draw against Burnley which felt like a win were stand outs. Other home match memories I saw that Dean Coney goal against Villa and I remember in one game against Charlton when Rob Lee knocked out the ball boy and the game stopped. Fotheringham swearing at the Barclay against Conventry and the Stowmarket two running onto the pitch against Colchester.
Im going for the city v middlesbrough game which finished 4-4! An amazing come back and drury scoring made it that little extra special
Had a season ticket the year of the 4-4 with Middlesborough and it was one game I couldn't get to because of a funeral. Was absolutely gutted, but beating ManU 2-0 made up for missing it, that places quite high in my home games I've been to. The playoff semi against Wolves is up there, Malkys thumping header, quality! I'm sitting here actually struggling to think of games. The reason for this is that the last two and a half years seem to have made me forget a lot of the last 15 pretty dull years (bar the playoff final and our 1 year in prem) that I've been properly following City. And the sad thing is I haven't had a season ticket for the last 5 years or so. I feel like I've missed a lot of the ride. Although I always listen to the games and now manage to stream or watch every match down the pub. When I think back I do think of specific matches, but more single moments of brilliance such as Safris rocket against Newcastle! There's a confused reply!!
Too hard to single out just one, but the F A cup replay (1992?) with Southampton when they had two players sent off, and poor old Flecky was barged into the advertising hoardings and got ribs broken. Four minutes from the end of extra time - and penalties (with which they'd knocked Man ure out in the previous round) Goss scuffs his shot into the ground, super Chris Sutton is on hand to loop a header over Tim Flowers and into the net. Totally mental And here's proof! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqB8QoOz0aI
I'm always in awe of you guys who remember all this stuff. I've been going to CR since the sixties, and have some great memories, I just can't recall them as precisely as some of you can. Didn't the urinals in the River end use to be al fresco once?
