2014 BREAKING NEWS Manchester United, Manchster City, Chelsea, Tottenham, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Juventus, Napoli and Liverpool have all been banned from European competitions for failing to adhere to financial fair play rules. Arsenal are the only team in the Champions League! Arsenal win!
On a serious note... I'd like to think that most of those clubs will sort out their finances so we can have a CL with clubs who actually run their clubs according to sound financial principles.
Don't go there mate Seriously sometimes I feel like I should put a disclaimer at the top of our articles " *NB the views of the OP do not necessarily represent the views of Arsenal fans"
Yawn. Is this thread going to be a serious debate about the FFP rules, or is it going to descend into a dozy wum fest. Because to be honest, I'm starting to get a bit hacked off with some of the tripe on this board.
Mr Samurai I think Utd doesn't make losses so as to be caught out by the FFP rules. Similarly I believe Spurs like us, will be fine too. Can't say about the rest because I am not in touch with their financial position. Liverpool may not make it into the CL anyway but my problem with the CL is how it could help us. If we do not have the players to beat the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona today and assuming they are not prevented by the rules from making it into the CL, how will we beat them tomorrow anyway?
I think most non plastic fans think this way, the reality however is that only Arsenal are run to a sound model and sadly the rich kids will always be able to afford better lawyers than any governing body so will always find a way of cheating their way past whatever rules are in place.
Well the OP was tongue in cheek to say the least. There's no way we'd be allowed 5 English teams in the CL again. On a serious note here's to hoping that the FFP's work and some normality returns to transfer fees and the PL follows suit in enforcing fiscal responsibility for all clubs in the league
