Morning all, hope everyone is well.

Nothing much takes the eye today. Would be mad not to back SBCs fancy at 100-1 !! I was sure we would see the banner out today!

Like Baby Shine as do many others by the sound of it.

Nass, im with you on the Southwell point. That course more than any other is one for the course specialists. Deeper sand so need horses with a heavy ground action which doesnt come naturally to many sprinters.

Zenyatta: I use RP too, especially on the breeding aspect. Everything is there, just a matter of finding the winners, that's never easy! LOL.

Good morning gents in which its gloomy at best... Another quiet day for the cards but in saying that we have had a 100/1 tipped up...!!! Not a day for punting heavily so its a watching and try a nibble here and there day...

As for the horse races missing from the papers i just think that in time evrything will be done via the internet or those media slab things. Papers will be phased out in time, though it will be some years before they do... RP, ATR, Sporting Life all have very good sites and i very rarely use the papers now... At the weekends yes, but thats because they put more into the days racing than they do through the week...

    Stay warm, cosy and dry...

Good luck to all who play today...<ok>

    2.40 Leicester Baby Shine.

Close 3rd behind subsequent Lanzarote winner Swincombe Flame at Sandown last term with Tempest River behind, though Tempest River reversed that form at Aintree on quicker ground.
Tempest River disappointed at Newbury back in November when behind Kentford Grey Lady who in turn has disappointed since, she did however win a weak novice hurdle at Herford.

Baby Shine I think has more scope and has a 10lb weight pull from her last race at Aintree, I also think she'll go better in the ground and whilst there's little to choose between the pair in the betting I'd prefer to go with Lucy Wadhams horse.

Grizzly, don't think its fair to say Kentford Grey Lady has disappointed, she seems to me to be one of the best novice mares in the country and should be competing in the final of the mares heats at Newbury later in the spring. Agree with the selection today mind <laugh>

I may have been harsh there Nass though she was a beaten favourite at Ascot and just 7 lengths in front of a 119 rated hurdler of Tizzards, she probably is one of teh leading mares in training but still has half a furlong to find on Quevega......

Only mare who could sit with Quevega is probably VLV. I think the Newbury heat will be rather hot because of Quevega being in the mares heat at the festival. Swerve her and go for a good winnable prize.

Lavelle stable hopelessly out of form at the moment - KGL too bad to be true at the weekend <ok>

I do agree about Quevega though - I was watching the Sporting Life replay of her win at last years festival last night, amazing how she just cut through them on the bit

Too bad to be true? She got done in a sprint for home in a slowly run race, hardly too bad to be true. A better pace or stiffer test and you see her reverse placings with the Nicholls horse

Don't follow trainers stats too rigidly if I'm honest but I backed one of Lavelles at Wincanton on Sat in a h'cap chase and he absolutely gagged up, can't rememebr his name though, won by a fence....

Hello gents, I have indeed placed the bet I typed up last night on page one. Took SP on the first, 2s on Baby Shine and 10s on the last. Subsquently I received a free 3 pound bet to be used today. Thats all gone on an All Weather win double, Imprimus Tagula and Focail Eile. Keeps things interesting at least though I think the Leicester card is pretty good for a wet and windy tuesday!

    Hello All,

hard to pick anything out to back today, especially with the weather making conditions harder to predict what the going will be like.

Have to agree with some of the selections on here already today though but a couple at some bigger prices. The 4.00 Kempton is now down to just the four runners with PRUSSIAN a very short priced favourite, however MISS ASTRAGAL is now tried in blinkers for the first time and hpopefully they will have the desired effect.

Also at Kempton, I like the chances of ITALIAN TOM in the last, and currently available at 9's could pay to have this one each way, and although the form figures don't look great, the selection has not lost by great distances and today may well be the day that we see a return to the winning enclosure.

At Leicester, you could have a short priced treble with ZAMA ZAMA, ESTEEM and BABY SHINE in the opening 3 races although they will be pushed all the way by TARN HOWS, DROM and TEMPEST RIVER. Also like SBC said earlier, it is intersting that O'Regans only ride of the day is on a 100/1 outsider.

The 3.40 is the race that interests me here however where I will be backing COTTAGE ACRE, who seems to have been backed quite a bot this morning as the 12's I took seem to be gone and now only showing at 6's! It should no problems with the distance or the conditions and I can see this one grinding out the win here today. MUJAMEAD is taken to complete the hat trick in the last.

Southwell, is as has been suggested, a track where it pays to stick with course form. However, with the opening race being a maiden, there is not much form to go on, but the selection here for me is the newcomer MAYFORDE JACK, who under breeding looks interesting and at 20/1 could be worth an each way play. Elsewehere on the Southwell card I think CADEAUX PEARL is capable of following up its win lto depite the rise in class and is good value at 6/1.

Good Luck with All who play today.

Poor racing today but on the AW one has dropped to a nice mark:

530: Tom Sawyer is a nice EW bet at 12s with Billys - the dosh should come as Lee Bolingbroke is involved in the ownership

Cyc - I thought you were down by the NSW border ?
I was up in the Sunshine Coast last Easter (horrible weather), stayed in Noosa after a few days in Maroochidore, where exactly are you ?

  20. Ok so not far from Townsville as Australia goes, spent a couple of days in Brisbane and Sydney had a great time but the shear size of the country doenst really allow for travelling on weekends. A 4 hour flight to Townsville from Sydney which sits on the same coastline puts it into perspective.

I have lots of friends who have moved out their with Australian Army and become citizens and they are loving it.
