It was mentioned on here last week, I predict a forward being signed this week who hasn't been on the radar, maybe it is hooper
Agree - doesn't make sense unless we have someone lined up. I don't think he has been as bad as people make out - not an out and out striker, but can hold the ball wall and do a job - I'd keep him in the squad.
yes hold it hold it hold it, slow the game down, take out the impetus then give it away, it is all he does. He is not half the player he was when he got his call up. The worst thing that ever happened to him
I thought we had 100% consensus that our tactics were non-existent under that useless clown Warnock - so expect Bothroyd is be back to his best soon under Hughes with a bit of guidance and strategy
Bit harsh and unnecessary. He played similarly v MK ( pretty good IMO) when "that clown" had already departed.
"Useless clown"? - Bit ungrateful to Warnock, Tooting, given what he did for us over the past two seasons. Do agree however, that Bothroyd might possibly flourish under MH
My sarcasm hasn't come across in that post, it was meant as a comment on the new revisionist position of warnock as an idiot and all the players being blameless. I'm not claiming he was a genius or better than Hughes, but the "I knew he was clueless, we've always been at war with Eurasia" new consensus was starting to grate. I'm not having a go at Bothroyd either - he is a better player than his record for the last year suggests. Hopefully a change of manager will do him good.
Bothroyd's had his chance under MH, two games in which he did barely anything. It winds me up whenever I see him on the team sheet; yes he occasionally brings the ball down and holds it up, but he rarely then makes a good pass or sets anything up, and he can't hit a barn door any more. The difference with teams who successfully play a big man up front to hold the ball up is that he can also score, which JB has proved time and time again that he is pretty inept at doing. Please, please get rid now. Helguson does a better job at winning it in the air and holding the ball up and he's borderline dwarf. And he can score. I'd rather play Tony Fernandes up front than Jay Bothroyd.
Now that I've reread it with my sarcasm detector on I see where you're coming from, and I'm not referring to Tooting! He was a useful clown though, wasn't he?
If this is true and I hope it is, I'll give Bothroyd a lift, buy him and his family houses and pay Celtic to take him. He has been useless since we signed him. Good luck in chilly jocko land!!!
