I thought MH knew what he's doing? (re: Henrique)

I thought the whole point of MH coming in and going after players with the money and backing he's given is to go get players? So what was he doing talking to the kid without finding out the situation as far as the law of the FA and the work permit is concerned, if the reasons for him not being able to obtain a work permit is due to his lack of club experience and not enough games at the Senior level? Aren't these sort of fundamental information that a manager would have, being advised by his team when he goes out on the search?

No more of these sorts of silly mistakes, for sure, but man I am even more disappointed now.
(Oh and I'm not purely blaming MH alone, it's also his team of assistants and advisors who obviously have a hand in how he operates).

 

Obviously everything okay for this guy, with international status:-

Maybe he thought as he was already playing in Europe that it would be easier for him to get a permit, and it should be

 

This guy is different. He has played for the Red Bulls and he is 24, not 20 without that senior-level experience.

 

It looks like he has played at the "senior" level, whatever that now means according to the FA.

My understanding on pl work permit rules, and this is by no means researched, is as follows:

If a player has played over 75% of games he's was available for at senior international level, and the nation in question is ranked within the top 75 nations based on Fifa's ranking system, he is pretty much guaranteed a permit.

If he's playing for a top level club, either home or abroad, and is seen as an exceptional talent, then he may be granted a permit on appeal.

My guess is that he's not been playing regularly enough for his club, sadly.....

 

I guarantee Paladini would've already had the deal done and dusted!We would stay up but then be docked 25 points,sending us crashing back to the Championship.

Was always going to be difficult to get this through. The answer is that you never know in advance unless the player has played 75% of his national team' games during the past two years at senior level. You can not get an answer in advance, first you've got to have an agreement with his parent club then you can put your case forward to the immigrant service's panel.

If you fail, then theres the possibility of an appeal. Only hope for the club then would be to argue that he's an "exceptional talent". Enrique has just been awarded with player and top scorer of U20 World Cup under the balon d'or gala. He plays for the country in the world that undeniably produces the most talents in the world, hence making it to a senior level at the age of 20 extremely difficult. But he's a regular in their U20 side, no mean feat in itself. A worry though is that he can't get regular games for his club Sao Paulo.

I'm a little puzzled why the club won't appeal on the basis of the "exceptional talent" arguement. This is now in the open, the club knows it, and a statement on the matter would be much appreciated.

 

Just seems crazy to spend all this time on a deal that looked dodgy from the start?. Surely you would be looking at a number of targets. Apart from one,loan signing,it seems all the other targets have fallen through?. Only a week left,so cant see much happening. So,we beat the worst team in the league.So we are going to be safe now??. We are in trouble if we dont get the players we desperately need.

 

Any suggestion that Hughes 'doesn't know what he is doing' is stupid. He went after a player of exceptional ability and potential, handled all of the stages within his control perfectly to get the club, the player, and no doubt the player's agent onside and happy with the move, only to have the rug pulled by the one bit he can't control - the work permit.

An appeal should go in, but given the date (24 Jan) we should concentrate on getting a decent striker in, rather than pin all our hopes on an appeal.

 

Wrong. We're in trouble if we don't get the ones we have performing to their best. New players are needed and will be a welcomed bonus. But to stay up we need the ones we got to be at their best, as of February the 1st they will still make up 80-90% of our starting eleven.

 

Playing to the best of there ability?..Thats just the problem and its not enough!

 

I'm with you. All I was trying to say is that we shouldn't be pinning our hopes on new players keeping us up.

 

wonder whether the Work Permit would have been granted if he was going to be signing for Man U, Man City, Chelsea etc...
