Fair point on the ones outside the 25 but I don't think you can whole sale slaughter the squad, you need replacements before you get rid of them and I think some players deserve at least a little loyalty. Getting rid of a whole team and starting again is massively more danagerous didn't everybody at the beginning of the season using the players haven't been together long enough excuse. I'll use a player which people don't seem to like as an example, how many CB's how many do you have in your squad ? I'd say at least 4 with probably someone else who can fit in, well while I wouldn't put Gabby as a first or even second pick CB 4th probably isn't a bad shout. Yes I would probably prefer someone younger coming through who you can train up but in the short\meduim term he'll do. Derry, Smith as backup great keep them also I would keep Cookie partly because hes a star (like Rowly) and 2007-2009 he was premiership quality (or at least Fulham thought so), he's had a run of injures which he seems to have come through now, maybe worth keeping for a little to see what he does in the reserves. Also remember the dream is for new training ground, decent academy, new stadium where is the money for these and 16 players coming from ? Intragration and a touch of realism is need IMO
No, those contracts expire in the summer so we make do with them then and then have a clean out with nearly all of them are deadwood with maybe 2 or 3 Id consider debatable. so that still over 10 youd get rid of then Vale, still a massive clear out. Smith Ephraim and Gabbidon are the 3 we might keep, no point wasting 100k a week combined on the rest who wont play a game between them.
There is definatley a need to rebuild in the summer. We have far to many players under contract who are nowhere near the first team such as Agyemang, Vine, Rowlands, Cook etc.. who are also on massive wages. The fact that so many are out of contract in the summer is going to help massivley and tbh not many will be resigned. I dont expect the likes of Derry and Hill to be resigned but we should definatley keep them until then. Perhaps they may play so well and get a new deal and be a reserve next year? One key point is that we have a very old squad which needs to change in the summer.
Ok Flyer! You were talking "relegation fodder" earlier on this thread - didn't realise you were taking a view on season 2012/2013 already! Of course we need a clear out, and if what you say about so many contracts expiring in the summer is correct for players who clearly aren't at PL level, then no doubt it will happen then, if we are still in the PL! Until then we need to concentrate on staying up, which means we need to keep the "2nd 11" from todays 25 man squad where we don't bring in new quality.
I thought it was pretty well known we were only getting 3 or 4 in at maximum now so the overhaul would have to wait until the summer. We could still sell 7 or 8 players who are nowhere near featuring but we wont get any offers for them.
