(Sadly) Wenger offers us very little

    I realise a manager needs backroom staff to help but there are a few key characteristics you need your manager to fulfill and Wenger seems to be poor on all of them. He wants almost full control of the club so he needs to be ultimately responsible;

    1. Tactics
Never his strong suit but seems even worse now which was tipified with the subsitution of AOC for Arsh yesterday

    2. Player Motivation
Over the past 7 years the players have been accused of lacking motivation or the bottle to fight. With all of old guard gone (Adams, Keown, Cambpbell, Veira) we're left with a bunch of spineless light weights

    3. Scouting

We've lost the ability to find those quality bargin buys (Anelka, Pires, Ljungberg) we even used to be good and finding older talents others wouldn't gamble on (Overmars, Kanu). Compare that to some of the recent signings (Park, Chamakh, Squillaci)

    4. Fitness
Last seasons they introduced a GPS based system to help monitor injuries, this season they opened a new medical centre yet we still have players breaking down if the wind changes direction

The only real bright spots to our team are Wilshere and Szczency who came through the youth system and are just exceptional talents with no help from Wenger it would seem.

What is the point to Wenger now? Nostalgia?

    1. Whilst I'd like to see Wenger switch our tactics more often to suit the game, the substitution yesterday was perfectly valid in the context of bringing another attacking player on. I don't believe it was why we lost the game.

    2. Szczesy, Vermaelen, Frimpong, Wilshere, RVP are all 'Spineless lightweights' ?

    3. Bargains rarely come around these days and the transfer market has been skewed out of all proportion since Chelsea and City started spending obscene amounts of cash. Show me an example of a top quality bargain signing in the mould of Anelka since the mega rich owners came into the game.

    4. 'Players breaking down if the wind changes' ? Sagna broke his ankle, Wilshere had a stress fracture. The medical team had to deal with four major bone breaks or fractures in 2010-2011. The average for this period is usually one. This has got nothing to do with the wind.

    OK - I will bite.

    Tactics
With the 5th highest wage bill and virtually the lowest amout of capital investment Wenger has come up with a system of play that has allowed us to finish in the top 4 year after year. This is despite the fact that even our own fans think that all but a handful of our players are not good enough to play in the premiership.

    Player Motivation
The players love him. Many who have left have aid it was the worst decision they ever made. Many have said he is the only reason they stay at Arsenal. People have said that the issue at Arsenal is that the players want to win too much.

    Scouting
We are still targeting the good playere what has changed is our ability to buy. We were outbid for Mata and Jones. As soon as we were interested in others their values more than doubled, simply because it got out that Wenger was a fan of the player.

    Fitness
Not sure how you can pin this on Wenger.

    1. Why chose AOC over Walcott? How many times this season has Wenger been able to change a game with his substitutions?

    2. Wilshere hasn't played this season and Frimpong has barely featured so not sure how they matter? The teams that have been playing this season have shown very little fight. Re-watch the last 15 mins against Swansea and tell me you see the correct desire with the players

    3. Demba Ba, Hernandez, VDV, Cabeye, Parker, Seggesson, all under 10M and now worth far more than those clubs paid for them

    4. Right so we're just unlucky then?

    1. He already explained that AOC was ill during the week and winded.
    2. I am not a mind reader, the team just looked tired at Swansea in the last 15 minutes to me.
    3. So you would drop RVP for Ba or Hernandez? Cabaye Parker and Seggusson, are not better than Ramsey, Arteta or Song.
    4. Twilight Zone time here. Wenger's fault because you can't think of anything else? Are you the nutter on the bus?

Whilst I don't think the substitution was a good one. It was Vermaelen being out of position for the 2nd goal cost us the game.

No it's not. The LB should have been in position. Arshavin did the right thing tracking back to cover, but the LB should have been there. If Oxo had made the same mistake, would people be lambasting Wenger for not subbing him ?

The point being that had a fatigued Oxo stayed on, there's every possibility that he may not have tracked back at all (it is a part of his game that needs developing) So in the context of the game, subbing him was not a bad decision.

I would have liked to have seen Benayoun, come on for Oxo, rather than Arshavin.

Arshavin has the biggest share if you must blame.

What about the bloody awful misses? When are players other than RVP going to have the balls to shoot straight!
    They are hopeless finishers.

Simply not true and I am not demented. Your argumentative tactics show a limited intelligence and cover up a lack of logic. OXO was red-faced and breathing heavily when he took his seat on the bench. He looked tired and was starting to drop off the pace of the game. He had a good game, but he was running out of gas. It isn't a video game and we cant afford another injury. It was the right decision. It is very unlikely that it had any effect on the match at all.

Similar to the way the Spuds loaned you to us?

Piskie is being too kind to you by saying you are a fan. You are not. You are a plastic loner who comes on here to WUM Arsenal fans. Now trot on sonny :)
