Leeds after Richie Wellens from Leicester City. http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/footbal...k/news/leeds-make-wellens-approach_14163.html
Its obvious Wellens agent has fed sky with this bullshit to drum up some interest, cant see us signing him to be honest
The ideal replacement. Of course he is. 31 years old compared to Howson´s 23. They worked together at Blackpool, so he must be good, just like Rackubka. But I´m just been cynical. He seems good on paper - the club´s player of the year last season, costing them over a million in 2009, and according to Wikipedia he was a crucial player for them. Isn´t a long term solution though. If we were to sell all our players and build a squad from scratch, we´d have a team full of pensioners. Is this the ´exciting signing´ that Grayson was talking about?
WELLENS WILL BE ANOTHER GIFT FROM PEARSON I like anything that Pearson doesn,t!He his a very good midfield player who will do a good job for us and this will come as a shock we will have to pay for him £250k at least!
Can confirm Leeds are chasing Wellens, but it goes against the grain a bit as he is on high wages, so where is the justification? Why not just pay Howson enough to keep him at Leeds for another four years? Doesn't make sense
I was rather hoping that we might have got Wellens in the summer. He was one of the best midfielders that played against us last season, he seems to have gone off the boil a bit this season, but he's still a decent larker.
Wellens is supposedly the best creative midfielder in the league! Well he was until clayton came about, but i'd definately take him. But we would have to sack mikka v
You put in a 250k bid and see what happens When you're talking 750k+ then you're getting there. You have to remember, we're down to our last 3 central midfielders and we're not exactly in a position where we need to sell.
From what I have been told, the player wants OUT of Leicester a.s.a.p. and would be more than chuffed if Leeds was his destination. edit: Wellens got a sore one tonight, blood from his nose, busted me thinks.
Watched him tonight still prefer Andrews though not overly impressed with him thought the best was Nugent and Saints oneman team and he wasn,t playing Lambert
My first reaction to this was that it would be a good deal. I didnt realise he was that old though, thought he was more around 28 which would suit better. Wouldn't be a bad signing but then surely if we did look into him then we'd be playing a 4-5-1 for the rest of the season coz i cant see us dropping either clayton or delph for him
Hows about we look at some bloody defenders!!. defence has been the problem for 2 years and its no closer to being fixed!
Spot on Logi, we keep getting linked to midfielders & wide men when the obvious problems lie in defence. Very strange. Surely there's better defenders out there, an experienced CB & RB. Hope we're not waiting to shift AOB. Bruce & Connolly first- no-one wants them.
Sadly, I think we are looking to shift AOB and connolly first (I think bruce is staying for now as cover)
He played well last night. Got stuck in, moved the ball around well. Whats the problem with his age? Certainly doesnt look a spent force to me. I would take him if the price was right. As mentioned above though, defenders first please!
