Bad reaction to a pot of tea Sorry but I just thought you weren't being nice to Mr Head who like all of us, is suffering.
Both I believe Are we finished with this now? I'm popping out for some razor blades. It's all getting a bit too much.
Going to Switzerland may make the experience slightly more comfortable and there's chocolate there too.
GoonerC/Robin - yeah I was making the comment that going to Highbury was far easier, getting tickets off a tout at the last minute, if the Box Office had sold out, the cost of tickets in general and the price of food and drink. I might convince myself to go to Arsenal V Villa ... but I'm loathed to go alone. If I could get a ticket where I would be amongst some singers .. I'd go for sure, but it's like the bloody lottery - everywhere I've sat at the Emirates for First Team games I've been sat with a bunch of shmucks ! I can see that behind the goals look sound lively, but knowing my luck the ticket I get will be away from the action.
Exactly Sacking Wenger would be a massive mistake. It's because of him that we've managed to qualify for the champions league every season and been in contention for all major honours every season since we moved to Emirates. I think some people underestimate just how difficult that is to do, especially given the financial restraints we've had, coupled with those around us spending cash like it's going out of fashion. How much have Chelsea, City, Utd, Spurs and Liverpool spent to chase success? If you think sacking Wenger would have somehow improved our situation, then in my opinion you are either not seeing, or choosing to ignore the bigger picture.
most ppl think its a walk in the park managing a football club, buy this player that player, job done we will win the league next year with that idea. bollocks to all you who think its that easy...... just because sacking wenger seems right at thi9s time doesnt make it right in the long term, you all think the board will change their ways because of a new manager????? or even quit because the so called fans who want them out will do it...... best bet it cheer the team on get behind them......booing onbly makes matters worse ala blackburn
At the moment we are going backwards, Wenger's recent buys have not been good enough, he has persisted with certain players far too long and mentally our team have not been strong enough for about 5 years. Is he really doing that great a job? It seems to me like you are clinging on to the past.
This is the thing that keeps coming up, and that I admit that I have a problem making up my mind about. What do we expect from an Arsenal team, given the level of investment? 1) As we invest virtually the lowest amout in transfers (net) in the EPL, is any position better than relegation a success? 2) As we spend about the 5th highest in wages in the EPL is anywhere in the top 5 places a success (Chelsea, Man Utd, Man City, Liverpool) 3) Anything short of winning everything is unacceptable. Perhaps in between those somewhere. You may feel that spending the 5th highest in wages is a good indicator, but the fact that we spend the lowest on transfers in addition, means that we are doing really well if we finish in the top 5.
I'm giving a realistic appraisal of the situation over the last few years. I'm not saying that there aren't areas for improvement, there are. But we are far from being in a crisis. Even yesterday, we were in a position to win the game, so that tells me that we are not that far off. As a club, I think we've been through a tough transition since the end of the invincibles and the Highbury era, but it's my opinion that Wenger, whilst not winning a trophy, has still enabled this club to compete and contend for all major honours in that time.
and yet despite all of this, we're still contending for a top 4 place this season. That's why it's not a crisis. I know there are areas for improvement, but I think a sense of perspective is needed.
So the only clubs not in a crisis are Man City, Man Utd and Spurs? Or are Man Utd and Man City in a crisis as well because they didn't make it into the CL group stages?
