QPR’s signing of Nigerian left-back Taye Taiwo is expected to be confirmed later today.

Taiwo, 26, is to join the R’s from AC Milan on an initial loan deal with a view to a permanent move in the summer.

The former Marseille player required a work permit before his move to England could be rubber-stamped.

He is likely to make his debut in Saturday’s FA Cup match against Chelsea.

I thought that we only had him on a six months loan, this indicates that we may have an option to buy. Can anybody confirm this?

i'm glad we have this cup game on sunday , chance to bed players in, chance for buzz to get another game under his belt cos i believe the more match time he gets the better he will be. Also two weeks till our next home league game, lets get the african boys back, that will help the cause.

It was probably easy to get a 6 month permit/visa he is on loan

Option to buy in the summer if he does well, makes sense for both parties.

This is important as if he performs well we need to have first option so as bigger clubs can't nip in and take him. Hope the same applies to henrique. I hope the club have this nailed down.

If we confirm getting him and also get Traore back do you think Hill could go before Jan 31st ? I think this could happen as we would not need 3 left backs in our 25 and Hills contract is up at the end of the season. Also Luke young could play LB in an emergency.

I think if names do come in we could see some old school leave.

Why the hurry to off load Clint Hill he is doing a stirling job albeit with limitation to paciest wingers and is a natural CB where he plays better and would offer us better cover than we have? Don't get your logic??

Henrique's case for a WP is more difficult. Unlike Taiwo he's not a full international.

Taiwo seems like old news now. Are we close to any other defenders? Sounds like every single deal is dead?

I would love to see players such as SD and CH move into a coaching position at QPR, however, I can see both following NW to his next club. Players such as SD and CH would be good coaches, as neither has the skill or talent as a certain mr Tarrabt, BUT both have dedication, application and a willingness to prove they are worth a first team slot. Youngsters could do a lot worse than learn from those two pros...

Can't see Hill leaving, he's doing surprisingly well. Anyone know if he has the same type of contract as HH that enables him to a automatic one year extension when a certain amount of games are reached? CernyBerny???

Also think Traore are considered more a LM than a LB so Hill will be backup to Taiwo.

Which part of my comment did I say I wasn't pleased with the signing? I'm just wondering if we are close to signing another defender. The taiwo story has been doing the rounds for days. Assumptions are the mother of all f*** ups.

Its a question rather than a statement.

My question is do you think we need three left backs in our 25, seeing that young can also cover there.

Hills inability to get forward hampers us down the left, Traore gives us another attacking option as i'm sure taiwo will also.

Cheers Cerny. Was of the impression that Derry and Hill had similar contracts to HH.

Hill is only going to get slower. Yes hes filled in well but wait until he plays against pacy wingers.

If we want to be anything apart from relegation fodder, the likes of Hill, Derry etc have to move on.
