    [QUOTE=fatletiss;
    On his performance yesterday, I thought he had a great game and Fergie must have had a chuckle when Wenger took him off.[/QUOTE]

    Spot-on Fatletiss; I was half-expecting Fergie to make small comment on the subject, I sat there just waiting for some remark about how well the wee-young lad played etc.:emoticon-0100-smile

    The irony of this is it was widely rumoured at the time that one of the primary reasons for the falling out between the club and Puncheon occurred because he felt his first team place was threatened by emergence of Chamberlain….

    Apologies Beddytare for the use of the term 'idiots' - I would point out that it was not directed at any poster in particular but agree my choice of vocabulary could have been better.

    Cheers RS

    Yes, this could be true, it was certainly mentioned at the time, although he is now singing Oxlade-Chamberlains praise on twitter. More worryingly Chamberlain keeps lauding Ward-Prowse's ability on Twitter too...

    I want to see AOC to do well for all sorts of reasons. Firstly, he's a former Saint and, unless they speak uncharitably of us or sign for our bitterest rivals, I'm generally thankful for their talent and wish them the best when they move on. Then there's the deflected glory we score for developping him. This in turn feeds into the academy which means that talented youngsters are more likely to choose us when they have a choice in the matter. Plus we get £3m if he plays well, plus we get a large percentage of any sell-on fee. If he's off to Barcelona in three years that's pay-day for us. And finally, if he plays well for Arsenal, he might play well for England. Of course, when he plays against us next year in the Prem, I'll want him to have a shocker, but other than that, fair play to him and I hope he does well for himself.

    Can't keep the kid under wraps forever. Did the two ever play together?

    Chamberlain certainy did well yesterday. I'm mystified as to why Wenger took him off.

    Wenger says he was knackered, and a BBC reporter claimed he had signalled to the bench. There's an argument for leaving him on anyway, but that's the reason, and I can understand why you wouldn't risk it. Imagine how upset the Arsenal 'fans' would have been if he'd pulled a hammy or something in the last five minutes. They'd have had Wenger's head for not taking him off.

    Hi Matt, I presume that they were at the development academy together even though Ward-Prowse is a little younger and may have never played in the same match. But they do seem to be friends on Twitter and speak well of one another, so maybe he has caught the eye on Chamberlains return visits (perhaps he is Arsene's spy :))

    It wouldn't surprise me if Chamberlain has watched JWP play a fair bit as the first team often watch the U18s when they play at Staplewood. JWP was an ever-present in the U18s last season before he got his scholarship.

    In my mind he is already better than Walcott.
