These are my thoughts exactly! have said it before but people refuse to read and take in what you are saying! it's not him leaving us,it's how he and his dad went about it.Football players move on and we sign a few from lower league teams ourselves, that's fine but when you do leave you have to do it with a certain amount of respect to the football club that you are with! Alex didn't do that so that's why i couldn't give 2 hoots what happens with him! All you people that love him good for you but don't tell me how to feel about him! it's my perogative,if you don't like it then who cares!
Agreed always want ex saints to do well.......well almost of all of them but am very proud when they do well. As for the AOC debate i believe he should have stayed another season as we would then be able to see how we would fair one level up. What annoys me is that he must have looked at Walcott and how he has done since leaving and seen that he has not fulfilled his potential so why would he want to see the same thing. He is gonna earn megabucks anyway so he could have waited another season, having said that we may have got less for him then.
Oh wow! he has said nice things about saints! that's ok then! he's a hero! bleeding heck he was hardly gonna slag us off!
So if Alex had said "I want to leave Saints because I'm destined for better things" you would've accepted that? Would you heck. Alex can't really control his Dad to be fair to him either, if his Dad talks to Sky, his Dad talks to Sky. He did his thank you and goodbyes quietly and professionally and as Nigel said at the time, how SFC prefer it "BEHIND CLOSED DOORS" until an announcement could be made. Don't get you at all.
No don't say it like that! it's not simple enough for some people to understand! wait for the next post to say 'you can't blame him for going to a bigger club' yawn!
You don't need to get me! i don't get you! i don't get how a die hard saints fan can turn around and support a player that has taken the piss outta the club! i love the club that brought him on for 10 years and when i see him doing that behind the clubs back (which it was) i don't find it easy to forgive! even Cortese was pissed off with it,surely you wouldn't disagree with him! I just don't get you at all!
I hope he nails it at Arsenal, didn't he leave for £12m with it rising to £15m on appearances, goals etc. Therefore we want that £3m as soon as possible. I don't care how he left the club, frustrating I know buts its hardly affected us at the moment. I always like to see the academy players doing well, Bale is a delight to watch and I am loving Surman and Dyer at the minute.
Cortese said,'I let him go because I could see it was getting to him.' He also said he was sad to let him go. Hardly the action of an angry man, although he did fine him for his newspaper article before the move. If you want to see Nicola pissed off look at Puncheon.
Right first things first, how did he "take the piss" ? Secondly, where did Cortese say he was pissed off with it? Thirdly, how can someone transfer behind a clubs back? They have to sign release forms...
I don't think people are ever going to come round to our way of thinking Adam. We have our opinion and they have there's, which is fair enough. Best to leave it at that.
Errrrrrr firstly he went to a national paper and had his photo taken basically saying he wanted to leave! that definitely wasn't authorised by the club! secondly it was widely reported that Cortese was pissed off with him and i don't think he'd of been fined if he wasn't! Thirdly i haven't got a clue what that's got to do with it! and fourthly who do you think you are questioning me?!
Completely agree. Imagine if we signed Rhodes; Our fans would say 'I can't blame him for leaving Huddersfield and joining us'. Yes I know Chamberlain is now an Arsenal player but he had a cracking season at saints and you could tell straight away he was going to be very good. Just like Bale and Walcott etc, I will follow his career and wish him the best!
And remember how gracious the Scunny fans were when we took Adkins. Many wished him luck and came on our board to say we had a gem and we'd enjoy his post-match interviews.
Fair enough, bar the paper report with photo there is nothing solid. No one can take the Echo seriously. But fair play to responding and not resorting to abuse. We will agree to disagree.
I wouldn't say it's ignorance but just being very blinkered. Football supporters like to do this - Our player that dives is still a good player but their player that dives is a dirty cheat. This dodgy penalty we got didn't matter because we deserved to win anyway, but that dodgy penalty that they got was the only reason we lost that game. Their fans that shout abuse and cause trouble are hooligans but ours are fine because they are just having a laugh/are the minority/the other team started it.
I cheer for Chamberlain and every other product of our Academy to do well; every kid that goes on to stardom at the highest levels of the game probably means five more highly talented youngsters who want to begin their career in Southampton.
