I think many of the players will bounce back, but Montrose has not been good lately in any games I have seen him .
I've already got my rant out of the way earlier. Right......the way forward and where we are. We are 7 points behind where we ought to be and what price are those 7 points worth? (D&R 3 points thrown away, Shrewsbury at home..1 point thrown away to a 94th min penalty ....and of course yesterday). That would have put us above Shrewsbury and up with Swindon and still on a roll. Forward line........as good as anyone's in the division. Midfield...again as good as anyone's....if allowed to play in their positions and not cover gaping holes in the defence. Defence.......wobbly at best. So what has happened to the rich solid defence that was displayed at the start of the season where Lawrence and Frampton were lauded as the 'defence of the division' which they are surely not. Lawrence.......the only area where he is predictable is....that he is unpredictable. MOM one week, villain the next. We have just sold Rooney and that money needs tp be spent on a quality defender who can plug the leaks. A Simon King of two years ago anyone??? Any ideas guys? Please.......
The whole defending was appalling for the last 20 minutes Kuffour was taken off probably because of his fitness. Jackman took a knock by the goalpost. Tomlin signalled to come off - holding the back of his leg - ham string ? At that point we shoud have gone 4-5-1 to load the midfield - where there was so much room and time for AFC ( partly because Montrose seemed incapable of much work during the game, despite a timely intervention (once) when things were going from bad to worse ) - At least we might have stood a chance of stopping so many attacks on our goal. Overall I don't think we deserved to win the game - but it was gutting to lose it because of the poor standard of defending. It didn't help that the linesman saw one incident against us - and yet all game long Kedwell was being held and pulled every time the ball was near him.Do the officials not see these incidents - surely they can't claim not to have seen the fouls - EVERY time ! And as for Lee being clattered almost into my seat in the Gordon Road stand - and the referee (laugh) had more words with Lee than the culprit. That tackle was worthy of a black card let alone a red one. brb - I think you can you can plan some d.i.y for Sunday 27 May ! To finish a bit more positively - Tomlin looked good. Kuffour's goal was a brilliant move and if those two and Kedwell (and Jackman) keep fit we'll probably score 3 goals every game. ( but how many will we concede ? )
Re: The penalty against lawrence. I've just seen it on the football league show, and don't think that was ever a penalty. Imo it was the usual jostling that goes on all the time, all over the pitch, and never gets given.
