Very silly by Russell, fouled twice in a minute and reacted badly. Straight red, three games.

Russell looked to get the ball by the way. Not sure it was two-footed and sparked furious reaction (MW) #cafc

    Be interesting to see it.

But as for the result- absolutely massive. Sometimes you have to win ugly.. Nothing wrong in that. Morro apparently made two fantastic blocks in the last minute. 10 points clear of third- dare we believe?

What a week. How many truely thought we would get 6 points from these games? I thought 4.. Truely is an achievement.

Now I'm torn between watching brentford or going to sleep. They have a pretty good away record don't they?

We don't want to lose any player for three games, but that is the one position where we can best afford to, having Hughes, Pritchard and Stephens, all much the same standard as Russell in their different ways. I can see Hughes coming back in for the next match (away at Exeter) and maybe Stephens getting some time at home to Bury and/or Rochdale.

I would have been happy enough with a point each off the Sheffields. Six is being greedy!

Never would of thought we would of gained 6points from those two fixtures... 4 would of been awesome but 6??? #Buzzing!!

Champions champions ohhh ayyy ohhh away champions...

Agree with Eddie, Sending off will give fringe players or Stephens a chance to showcase themselves over the next few games!

Yes, that's a good point eddie - I'd settle for promotion as Champions over winning the Fair Play League any day. :emoticon-0105-wink:

If anyone follows Dartford... They won 3-1 today and Woking lost, Great result for the Darts... Mambo's Ebbsfleet lost 3-2 away to York... Smiths Accrington drew away to Aldershot... And Euellys Wimbledon had a fantastic result coming from behind away to the Gills to win 4-3!

They do, and according to their manager, they should have won at The Valley too, except for those two pesky goals we scored...

Give it till half-time and see how you are. <ok>

It was because of the fair play league that we almost made Europe ;)

Sheffield Utd playde by far the better football in the 2nd half, they kept possession passed and attacked all the way through. Just returned from the game and thought it was a very lucky win. The Russell foul did not in any way merit a red card, he got the ball back not the player. It was a very physical game and our players were really under the cosh, their passing style seemed to desert them. I'll be glad to see Stephens and Hughes back, I thought Pritchard was the weak link in midfield. JJ's free kick dipped just like the one against Sheff Wed and was another piece of skill, his 2nd one went into row Z. Green had a good chance to score but you always thought Sheff Utd would come back into it. Hopefully next game we can see a more fluid passing game as there's less pressure. The defenders stood up well today but midfield was stretched. I would've made 2 subs on 70 minutes.

Brentford have scored- and very much look the better team.

You can't win playing beautiful football every week (well, barca are maybe the exception). It's important when your midfield is struggling that the defence stats strong and vice versa. We just kept out the leagues high scores, so that's one positive.

Interesting about Pritchard, Pat. I thought he was the weak link last week, but the general feeling was he was MOM. I'll feel happier when Stephens is back to full fitness. Most naturally gifted of our squad.. With kermo.

2-0 brentford. That diagoura(sp) really does look a good player.

Should have been 3!! What a day this is becoming.

Just got an e-mail from two Blades from our Head Office who went today -

Referees name apt, especially from the neck up, not a red for your player. Beattie stupid beyond belief, especially when he doesn't have a club yet. Good way to secure your deal. Not. Decent ground and good banter with your fans walking to the station. Thought a draw would have been a fairer result but when you lose to a goal like that, what can you do?

Didn't realise Beattie was without a club, apparently this is a short term try-out with an option to extend. The O/S is calling his dismissal 'brainless', pretty good description that.

Yes but you can't win playing defensively every week or being under the cosh for large spells of the game either. The Sheff Utd players were far more physical and more powerful but also added the passing side to their game and really went at it 2nd half. There was little pace down the wings from Charlton today, I did see Pritchard in one game earlier the season and thought he wasn't yet ready to be in the first 11 every week and stick with that view from today. Stephens/Hughes would add more solidity to the midfield Super and then we'll see the flowing football again. I even think Waggy could've done a good job today as Solly was again getting forward but there was no one to link up to.

'Udders fight back - sounds like a good game SC.

I thought Diagouraga and Bean were the pick of their players at The Valley.
