I like that line up Syd but if Wickham is fit I'd rather have him than Bendy.

I agree with froggy but I think it will be as Syd said. Bendy knows he needs to pull his finger out & get in the box instead of drifting out to the wing.

Lets hope he does that today.

not saying it would be my team, I do think it will be MON's and so far he has done OK so I will let him pick.

I'm getting the usual pre-match butterflies now, and seeing as I'm not at work tonight or in the morning, I will be sampling a few pre-match bevvies to lubricate the larynx...
Ha'way the lads...<ok>

When we were playing very narrow earlier in the season then Bendtner drifting to the flanks was relatively justified however now we have a bit of genuine width and him playing as the main striker he needs to know his role. On that note, 2-1 to the lads today, Bendtner with the winner!

Haway the lads!!!!

Why doesn't he just put his swear filter on?

He was a canny poster him back in the BBC days.

Yes please, do try. I always liked Gordon's smileys and him being the spelling and grammar police! As he was one of the few posters to have actually played the game we knew he knew what he was talking about. Please tell him his contributions would be really welcomed, certainly by me.

I know he doesn't like swearing on a public forum, and neither do I, so I use the swear filter (which doesn't work in the 'reply' box after you have quoted someone, by the way!) I think when not606 started it may have been worse, because people felt they had been 'set free' from the shackles of BBC moderation. I find most posters are quite respectful to each other these days though.

Like froggy I would prefer young Connor as opposed to bendy leading the line but not expecting it. I would like bendy however to realise that unless he pulls his finger out he will be gone. For that reason i am going to take him to score the winner today. 3-2.

Enjoy your ale & the football boys. I have a sore throat so may need a few chasers with mine today, purely for medicinal purposes.

I am sure Bendtner will start.

There is an interesting article on MON's managemnt influences in todays Journal here: http://www.journallive.co.uk/safc/safc-news/2012/01/21/martin-o-neill-explains-his-management-influences-61634-30168671/2/

But this bit in particular is relevant:

There is another part of the game O’Neill sees in simple terms. You can easily imagine Clough, one of the most prolific strikers of his generation when he played for Middlesbrough and Sunderland, dragging Nicklas Bendtner to one side, Old Big ‘Ead to New Big ‘Ead perhaps. “Young man, I pay you to score goals, so when we have the ball, get in the box!” Again, O’Neill is on his mentor’s wavelength. “He’s capable of scoring more goals, and more importantly he feels that,” he says of the Dane. “He thinks he can find the net more often rather than heading off out to the wing. “He played a lot of times at Arsenal out wide so maybe there’s a bit of a re-adjustment going on. “I’ve been pleased with him, but if he could add a few extra goals, which I think he’s capable of doing, I think he’d be pleased with his efforts up here.”

You don't have to read between the lines, he is clearly telling Bendtner to get more goals or he won't be staying at Sunderland!
