Just received this from a friend in USA and it brought back so many very fond memories for me. It's sort of a time machine of music over a period of 60 years - 1940 to 1999. Each of the years on the right column connects to the best 20 hits of that year. Pick a year, click on the word JuKe BoX,wait a few seconds, and the Juke Box will show you the 20 hits to select from. You can play all 20 hits, or just those that you like.

For those who prefer Country music, there's the same 60 years of choices.

    Hope you like it.

Come off it Syd - I think you are playing games here - more like the 50's.

I bet you were humming along to Presley's early hits with your eyes closed, thinking of all those lasses that got away!

I remember my first visit to the Barras, lots of men with DVD's who would move away fast when the plods showed up, no idea why mind...

The one that caught my eye (and ear) was Buddy Holly's 'Peggy Sue' (1957). We'd never heard drumming like that before, and, boy, was there some weird jiving going on down the Seaburn Hall. There were arms and legs fleeing all over the spot! Lasses were shaking things I didn't even know they had.

Buddy was going to name that after another lass he knew. Jerry Allison, the drummer, was going out with Peggy Sue but they were going through a rough patch. He asked Buddy to call it Peggy Sue to smooth things over. Buddy said "Jerry, if you can keep that paradiddle up for the full record, I'll call it Peggy Sue." Jerry later reckoned his wrists were nearly dropping off but there was no way he was going to quit. He got there, and it was called Peggy Sue.

And the whole world's asses shook like never before! Ha.

Ha, yeah! Jerry Allison - the man who invented a whole new way of studying anatomy! It must sound odd to some of the young fellas on here. But, in it's day, Peggy Sue was one of the all-time wild records.

Yes the Buddy Holly song Peggy Sue was originally titled Cindy Lou.

Spot on Lever. I couldn't remember the details off the top of my head. Cindy was a girl Buddy was after or something of that sort? He changed it to Peggy Sue if Jerry could keep the paradiddle up - and Jerry did.

What a lot of people won't remember today is that that song was two years or so from the Quickstep, the Tango and old-fashioned ballroom stuff. It really was one of the wildest records ever released. I remember the Seaburn Hall without a single person left sitting down when they played that. Wild cheers, and everyone instantly took to the floor. Sadly, Peggy left Jerry anyway and married someone else - hence the follow-up 'Peggy Sue got Married'.
