It does say yet to start a game. So he may have made plenty of sub appearances. Kenny saying he's only kid could just mean he's young and foreign, so will need time to settle.
Every time I hear Kenny say 'We're expecting a quiet transfer window' I feel more and more like something is going on! Should probably be thinking the opposite but I don't know....Anyone else getting the same feeling?
I get the opposite feeling. I honestly believe that KD thinks our current squad is good enough to finish top 4 without any additions. If he truly believes that he is clinically retorted IMO. I think Texiera would be a good buy, but i'd like to see him play games. Every other team in the league seems to give their reserves and young stars a good run in the team, and if they play well they stay there. But with us, it's almost like the reward for playing well is being dropped, or in most cases not even getting the chance in the first place. I mean honestly, who can say that someone like Sterling or Suso would do worse than downing or kuyt is currently playing? Would give the young guys a huge boost too. I don't like this ideology of keeping young players in the academy for so long. They need chances or how are we going to know if they will be good enough? If we don't start playing the fringe players more i can't see them wanting to stay at the club for much longer. Especially if someone else is interested in them.
Young players mature at different times, some are ready at 17 (Owen,Rooney) but others will be in their early 20's before they make the step up. This lad looks like a real talent, let's wait and see.
This is what Manure are discovering now with Pogba and Morrisen, both highly rated and chased players who want to leave cause they cant get any 1st team action. In fact old red nose has opted to for a 37yr old who should have retired 3yrs ago. Someone like Sterling could prove to be a bright spark we need at the moment. From what i've seen; he's quick, creative and implusive (on the ball), arent the things we've missed this season. I'm not saying he start against Manure or Everton, but at least give him a couple of chances from the bench the early cup games would have been perfect for this. We waited too long for Pacheco and look how that turned out.
Exactly, i still think Pacheco is a brilliant young player, although i can't see Kenny bringing him back into the squad. I expect to see him sold as soon as his loan deal ends. I tell you what, if Suso and pacheco were both in Barca's academy i reckon one of them would be as good as Thiago or Fabregas by now. It's very frustrating seeing these young guys play so well and seem to get no reward. Then they get shipped out and have an average career in spain's league two. Just look at Sinama Pongolle (I'm probably spelling that wrong) or Cheyrou.
People vastly underestimate the chasmic gulf in class between the reserves players and proper prem players. Pacheco was given chances and couldn't make the step up. FFS I watched a Liverpool Everton reserves match and Anichebe came on because he was coming back form injury. He looked like Messi compared to our lads. We've got great young prospects but the ones good enough to play now are already on the bench in the first team. The others need more time. I am looking forward to when Suso and Sterling are ready though
In fairness mate I think most of us realise that a lad who looks good for the reserves won't necessarily make it in the first team...however...seeing as some of our first team this year have played so poorly they wouldn't even grace the reserve team then I do think it should be looked at as a much more serious option. I wouldn't have a problem if we give some of the younger lads a go even if it's just to give those under performing players a swift rocket up the backside. I watch as much reserve team and youth team football as I can (but not as much as I'd like) and I can think of a few attacking players who would have certainly been no worse than some of the abject **** I've witnessed from a few of the first team squad so far this season. Just a thought
Pacheco had far fewer chances than Carroll has had and showed more promise in those fleeting appearances he made than the majority of our underperforming starting XI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REr7Ji17jk0 Some nice skills. Looks a bit light weight. But looks good.
TBH I think Pacheco looked poor in all the games I saw him in. He always looked nervous, especially against players bigger than him, and he also always seemed a little lazy, not moving around enough. Sure he had occasional bursts of skill, but not enough to earn a run in the tea.
If you look closely you will see he actually does the same thing twice, almost identically. Pretty sure of that any way. The goals very nice. Though the best bit is the back heel, not his bit.
