Same here, if you don't fancy your chances against Crawley then you can't against anyone at this stage of the competition. That's not to say we should underestimate them, but we should have too much for them. They gave Man United a game last season, but who hasn't raised their game against Man United in the cup? Playing Hull City is different to Man United and the circumstances surrounding this game are different to that (no tv cameras or 'star' names to play against etc). I don't think anyone is expecting us to just turn up and be in the 5th round, but if you asked for a decent draw then this would be one of them.
Might I just remind you what happened in the Carling Cup and lets not forget that they beat Bristol City, another NPC side, in the last round. Not counting chickens spring to mind
If we don't think we're better than Crawley, then we should forget all about the play-off's. They're doing well in League Two, but they're still a League Two side, they're on the up and I don't expect it to be an easy game, but I do expect a win.
Not aimed at me I know but I said something similar. Neither of us said we would definitely win (that'd be stupid) we just said that if you can't be confident against a League 2 side you never can. They were a decent side as it turned out but I wasn't impressed with their tactics, they're another 'long ball - defend - cheat' side if you ask me and the Championship has enough of those already.
YES. City reserves were poor and the best team won. Man Utd, Newcastle, DQPR also went oy today. So what ? its cup football. We can concentrate on what matters most for the rest of the season. end of, imo.
They came here and did what they do well. No sour grapes from me the better team on the day won. You could tell that they play together every week, on the other hand we had a mix of players and subs who never for one minute during that game looked like a TEAM.
I said Crawley might be a tougher game than Ipswich and you responded in astonishment like I was a buffoon. The exact point I was making with the original post is that strange things happen in cup football and now you're using that against me. Amazing!!
So go on then, if you're so wise to know that cup shocks happen why did you make me out to be a fookin' idiot when I suggested Crawley would be a tough game?
Good following from their fans, though I heard them doing that 'You're ****, ahhhh!' Nonsense at Mannone just like the Leicester fans do!
the away support was good , we accidently ended up in the away end ... its a loooooong story lol We saw an old guy falling on the staircase - hope he's OK and got to see the game bless him. finally getting moved to the west , we kinda wished we stayed behind the goal and joined in the fun !!!
We're going to come up against more long ball sides this season than most teams in the division. Any manager that adapts their tactics to suit the opposition will see our umpa-lumpa backline and be less committed to passing the ball around on the floor than normal.
