25,000 seats at darlington yes? so far "apparently" 5000 fans have tickets, why don't fans from sunderland, newcastle, hartlepool etc who can't get a ticket to their own game may aswell go to the darlo game, extra cash for darlo to stay afloat that much longer. It would be a good idea, just hard to do.
if wiki is right, they have a 25,000 seater staidum but due to "poor" access they are restricted to 10,000 seats
I heard it was due to the roundabout outside being too small to deal with the amount of traffic should the stadium use its full capacity.
I don't mean to sound horrible, but I'm not going to give up the little money I have to pay to watch a football team I couldn't care less about. I don't want them to go out of existance or anything, but if they can't sort it out themselves, why should we?
It's £18, the football is dreadful, you can watch better at Gateshead for 5 pounds less, and the traffic is shocking if you have a big attendance.
Yeah they don't, but even if we paid money to get tickets, they will still go out of existence. Nowt we can do about it.
It's a nice gesture, but what the club earn from a few thousand more turning up to one game will keep them going for days at best. Even that many turning up to every game would make no difference. It is a real shame, but the club is unsustainable as a business concern, and has been ever since the stadium was built.
The fans didn't **** up. It was the delusions of a former criminal, who made a fortune out of kitchen worktops, during the property boom, and used the money to replace their compact yet characterful town-centre Feethams with a mini-Riverside Stadium, a few miles out of town. From the start, it was clearly a massive white elephant, created by a non-football man's delusions of grandeur, and a monument to his own ego. He even had special Darlington FC wines produced, for match day hospitality, and also named the ground after himself!!
Sorry for OT, but not worthy of a thread. What happened to Shearer Cort Given Dyer Speed? Name change? As for the Darlo game, I might have done, but I live abroad. Nice idea though, especially when tomorrow is an away game.
