Just been on local radio (Magic FM) to clarify the situation.

He was never on his wish list at any point. If added that our cousins were having a terrific season and that their priorities and targets where different to ours.

My take is what I said yesterday. We will be safe now this season but even a rush job £10m striker isn't going to have much influence this campaign.

Far better we give Mon the opportunity to get the players he actually wants in during the summer, not panic buys in January, especially after only 6 or 7 weeks in the hot seat.

    We don't want another Flo.

Agreed, I would rather we keep our powder dry until the summer. Let Martin have a good look at the current crop and add 4 or 5(max) really good players into the squad to kick us on

It's always an imbalance with Sunderland. When we had strikers, we couldn't get goals from midfield. Now we're getting the goals from Vaughan, Larsson etc, there's no strikers scoring. TBH, I'd rather we were in the current situation than the former. Look at our goals tally compared with our nearest and dearest. Not much in it and we shouldn't suffer too much if one of the lads gets injured, whereas the loss of Ba could be fatal.
No need to panic buy IMO

We can't catch Newcastle, it's our year to survive with a view of pushing on next year.

Cisse said in an interview that Sunderland had shown interest, not that MON had, I'm guessing as others have already pointed out, he was Bruce's target?

I can't help but think you still need a striker of some sort, but there's quite a few decent (if not amazing) forwards who'll be free in the summer, perhaps a cheeky £1m bid could secure at least another body.

What does craa mean? Or craas, or whatever it is.

I've seen mackems use it (sometimes against me) but I really have no clue what it stands for.

    It's your proper nickname.

This. Last year, defences found us easy - snuff out the striker and job done. Now, they look at us and have to wonder which one of six or seven players is going to bang one in. Sunderland aren't an easy touch for defences any more. We're much better now imo. A striker would be nice, but we were never going to spend a lot on it before talking to Gyan in summer.

Hopefully, barring a disasterous run, we can stay clear of trouble for this season, then we hope Mr Short will have some faith.
I'm of the opinion that MON would not have come here without the promise of 'support' ............once safety has been accomplished and thereby another season of Premier 'prize money'
    :)

Does anyone know what Cisse said about Sunderland? Any direct quotes or a link? I'd like to know more about this and especially when. Did Bruce want to replace Gyan, and did Short refuse him the money? if that's the case, 'when' would tell us a lot.

I "think" but may be wrong.

Magpies are passerine birds of the crow family, crow = craa so you get called craas.

Aren't magpies also classed as thieving vermin along with the rest of the craa family?

Feathered ones I'm on about mind.
