Fleetwood Town block Darlington, who currently have 9 players, from signing loan players from Newcastle and Middlesbrough. Disgraceful.

i know they need to look after themselves for that game but to hamper attempts to save darlo FC by blocking player loans seems to be spiteful in the extreme. even if they do loan in some players from bigger clubs you actually think they're going to be a coherent unit after being chucked on a pitch together?

    nasty ****ers.

Darlo's got a transfer embargo automatically, because it's in administration. Every club in the league has to agree to let them buy/loan players, and Fleetwood are ****s.

its not really in the spirit of the game is it, even if it were sunderland in the mire i wouldn't block that. As even though i hate everyone of them to a man its the fans that suffer most and they aren't the ones that are charged with running the club and managing it properly financially. If someone told me tomorrow our club wouldn't exist i'd be truly gutted. tears gutted. thats why i wouldn't block it for any other team because its the fans and players that are left high and dry. you could argue against their boardroom and say well its their fault so i have little sympathy in them losing their money on the investment.

I guess, I don't know the specifics of the BSP league rules. I expect it will have been an emergency meeting of BSP chairs or boards or something, where they all had to vote. Bloody lack of unanimity (I think that's the right word, I'm too hungover to be sure) is going to kill Darlo.

Even if it were much younger players from Newcastle/Sunderland/Boro/Hartlepool, 16 and 17 year old academy kids just to make up the numbers if Fleetwood are concerned about them gaining an unfair advantage. Even if points picked up whilst fielding these players were to be written off at a later date, just give them enough to fulfill matchday requirements and keep some form of normality.

    Really bad show from Fleetwood.

Feel really sorry for the Darlo fans more. All they want to do is watch their team play football, Fleetwood are absolute pricks for blocking loan moves.

exactly. its not like we're going to loan them ****ing ben arfa or something for gods sake. we'd send out them a bunch of kids to make up the numbers. they wouldn't train together or anything. it'd be like a kick about between strangers in all likelihood. they need to have a think about how it would feel if the shoe was on the other foot.

In fairness, saving Darlo doesn't involve them getting an advantage in the league that Fleetwood are looking to win. Darlo have their own youth players, even youth players from us or Boro are going to be of a better standard, so why should they get a footballing edge? Or do we just have the likes of Barcelona B in the lower reaches of the league pyramid rather than proper smaller clubs?

    Sorted. <ok>

A strong but fair opinion on Late Kick Off the other night is that the club should just completely forget about the stadium, cut their losses and then reform as a completely separate entity (eg. Darlington Rovers) in the lower divisions. They could propose groundshares until they could set up their own place and with a high profile, large fanbase (certainly by unibond standards) they would slowly rise back up the leagues and be better for it.

It's not an easy pill to swallow but sometimes to keep a club alive you have to make huge sacrifices. Similar stories are Chester, AFC Wimbledon and (to a lesser extent) Gretna 2008 where fan-owned phoenix clubs have been made and built up from a lower level.

In regards to Fleetwood - When there owner pulls out and leaves them, they will fester and will drop down the leagues and hopefully go under. I don't like Fleetwood, especially that disgusting individual Brodie. Vardy will soon leave for greener pastures.
