Perhaps we will learn. If NW had Barton foisted on him he should say so. I doubt it somehow. It seemed to me at the time that NW saw an opportunity and made a mistake. One of a number of mistakes. If so, he was not alone. Other well-known succesful high profile managers were in the hunt. I believe that he will acknowledge that in due course. The first few games lulled us all into a false sense of security. However I am firmly in the camp of those who should thank him from the bottom of their hearts for all he did for our club, wish him well but draw a line under what has been a shameful episode for our owners. The people to blame for our predicament now are the goons. There is no cause for some of the vitriol I have seen poured Neil's way on this particular thread. He made some mistakes along the way but he should not be crucified now because of a run of games in which nobody gave us a hiding and on the whole we gave a good account of ourselves. Luck is cruel and only idiots think that it balances out over time.

It is not a nice feeling to be told you have lost your job in such a spineless way and he has every right to feel badly let down. IF TF reads this and thinks I am not "keeping the faith", perhaps he would like to discuss it with me face to face instead of shooting down his critics in a few badly chosen words to his cronies.

It is certainly showing NW in a different light than before.

But some comments are extremley worrying to say the least, and I dont know if it is just sour grapes or not. Many have thought Barton has been causing trouble before. Why did NW sign him then? And then make him captain?

    Doest add up really.

As has also been said, I will always remember NW fondly, but some of the stuff he is saying sounds odd and he keeps contradicting himself. On Sky he said he was sacked by text, and then on BBC he said he was asked to meet Beard by text. Two completley different things.

I think TF had not much choice in sacking Warnock as things were beginning to go badly wrong.

I'm afraid you're right Flyer. But I also believe it's these traits that has made so many QPR supporters take to him.

    Yorkshire, very good post <ok>

More to follow, here it is....

After guiding the London club to the Premier League during the 2010-11 season, the former Sheffield United and Crystal Palace boss was initially backed by Fernandes.

But, despite a poor run of results, Warnock says that "he didn't see [being sacked] coming," and believes the Caterham F1 team boss should have told him personally.

"I received a text saying the owners had been talking long into the night and Phil Beard, the new chief executive, asked if he could come and see me so I told him to come to our house and when I saw him I felt sorry for him and said, 'don't worry - it's nothing to do with you, this'.

"I think you get used to a certain way of doing things but he [Fernandes] is so far away, all over the world. I'm not a communicator by tweet, I'm afraid, so I was always going to be the last to know," he added.

Warnock, who spent 22 months at Loftus Road, believed he was on track to keep the club up. "The club will need restructuring over the next few years and there are a number of owners now and there's not a lot of football experience around," he said.

"When you have a run of results like we had and you're not involved in football and you get people in your ear - agents, for example - tweeting him and speaking to him and talking about players... there's some clever and manipulative people. I've no bitterness towards it. It's just how things go.

"I love this club and always will. It's been a big part of my life even though it has only been 22 months and it's been the biggest career success I have had in my life."

Warnock also went on to rue the fact he "wished I'd had [Hughes's] agent at times over the last few years," referring to Hughes's representative Kia Joorabchian - who also represents Rangers targets Alex of Chelsea and Manchester City's Nedum Onuoha.

"I want Mark to do well. He's got a good agent too, and between them they'll bring some good players into the club," Warnock said.

However, the Yorkshireman does not envy young managers coming into the game and said that, from a manager's point of view, the game was no longer enjoyable because "players are the ones with all the power now".

He added: "My chairman tweets a lot and some of my players tweet and players only look after themselves so it's quite easy to start rumours with this new modern media and I don't think it helps anybody."

When asked about the influence of captain Barton on the team, Warnock would not be drawn: "I don't think I want to get into talking about Joey Barton. Joey talks about himself enough and I think we'll let Joey talk about Joey.

"I just want to talk about positive things about the club and I think there are too many positive things to talk about without going into detail on individual players."

When asked about his future, Warnock talked only of spending time with friends and family but he did reveal that he did "like the idea of saying what I want to say - but we'll have to wait and see".

"would like to see Warnock try to tell Waddock, Dowie, Sousa, Magilton & Hart about what he had to put up with at QPR. Absolutely laughable."

When the tail is allowed to wag the dog, who's to blame?

When NW came to us, he laid down his terms, took full control and despite a few ineffective signings (Clarke, Hulse, PVM) blasted us into the stratosphere with the remnants of what we had already, a couple or three journeymen and a gifted, young maverick. No mean feat and huge deserved respect from us for the man we saw as boss.

But that all changed though didn't it? After Briatore's return in the summer, NW was publicly silenced and effectively immasculated after hinting at his frustrations over tranfer funds: he was forbidden to comment on anything other than team affairs, demoted him from manager to coach, and had his contractual power over transfers removed. All this public humiliation in one official statement.

People (and presumably the Goons themselves) expected him to resign on principle. Most managers with any sense or pride would have. He chose not to and what we were left with was a pale shadow of the boss we'd come to believe in. Problem was that most of us loyal followers (including me) refused to see the change in him; and clearly many still don't recognise it now - but that's what happened and that's where it all went pear-shaped.

Had he resigned, there would have been uproar amongst all the regular fans' groups. The Goons had been chewing us all up one way or another and we were all communicating on Twitter, just dying for a catalyst...

But it wasn't to be. From there on in it was route one for Neil - both off and subsequently on the pitch - all the way to the bitter end. And hasn't it been bitter? A manager so desperate for glory he lost sight of the basics of his craft: a plan to guide him and us to that end. Sad really. And the more he chats about the tail wagging him, the more pitiful it'll all become.

Comes a time when a hero really ought to shut up and let the legend properly kick in.

By the way as much as I take issue with NW's spin on things his point about underlying issue being the owners' lack of knowledge is correct.

But they were spot on with this. A more loyal owner would have kept him and we would have gone down.

I believe they made the decisionn at the right time we will never really know if its the correct one as there is no way of telling.

I think the board do need more experience in the way of football but with MH and his agent KJ they will soon have a lesson in the transfer market.

I just want NW to now ride into the sunset with the fans singing his name instead of a gollum character sniping and attacking the club.

    Very Good post mate...

I for one never wanted him but openly acknowledged that he was what the club needed at that time, And he fullfilled all our dreams inside 2 years....

Time to bow out gracefully Niel...go with your head held high.

Never wanted Barton at our club (Flyer will testify to that) but acknowledged we neded someone like him to do the job has was brought in for..as of yet i dont think JB has done anything of any standing and should poss gone at the same time as NW.
I really dont see Newcastle missing him or anyone trying to bid for him in this transfer window. He too is a has been who lives on 1 (?) England appearance in a very average team..Bye Bye Joey and thank god...

And dont get me started on Tarbs....Seriously...!!!

It was the correct decision unless Hughes takes us down.
It also means we are 6 months ahead in rebuilding our team and havent signed another bunch of poor players.

Ah. You know how I feel about the man. He is brilliant. People forget what we had at QPR when he came on board. We had barely survived relegation to League 1 when he came in, and we had the silly F1 owners and then he went through an owner change as guided us to the Prem. An absolutely amazing feat. He is Legend. His detractors are absolutely bonkers, in my opinion, as you all already know.

Thank goodness it's all going to come out. As honest as he is, there won't be any denying what he says - it's all straight-up.
